But the Conservative/Liberal coalition government in the UK has now introduced a similar scheme, providing a single welfare benefit for people of working age, with an additional payment for people with disabilities.
Err... so the payments will be the same but people on the DSP will get more?
It's still early here, I'm easily confused.

Sorry, wasn't having a shot at you, all it looks like to me is moving the deck chairs around on the Titanic.

Sorry, wasn't having a shot at you, all it looks like to me is moving the deck chairs around on the Titanic. Just say the single payment for everyone is $300 per week and the disabled only get an additional $50 per week then we are a lot worse off then we are now, so unless we know the exact payment rates we don't know if we will we worse or better off if the plan goes ahead

Best to wait for an announcement then. Note that the guy making this statement has no link to the government and is basing his assumption on something Abbott said more than 10 years ago. Even a week's a long time in politics, ask Julia Gillard.

yhe a single payment for all. a great idea ... maybe!
Good idea if the single payment is based on the rules of the DSP or OAP. But we all know the fact is, the single payment will be based on the new-start allowance ... & as such a single welfare payment for all would see everybody required to look for work under work for the dole & mutual obligation requirements.
A single payment for all .... Good idea.
I think not.
