It's been a long time since l was here as I've been working on my health to go visit my children and live in the Pines now that l've achieved my Indef Portability. I had intended to ask if anyone had success when applying for 'section 24' and had any good advice b4 applying but some info here from dsp-ers have confused me, complicating I.P. of DSP and staying long time outa Aust. and residency issues. Am I just mistaken?Any clarification members All those here with UP who have applied for an exemption as a member of a couple under the act have been successful.

An (expensive) morning of high drama when my Aus bank shut down my card and blocked access to my online banking.
Turned out it was over a payment last month to MEGA.nz for my online book storage. Finally fixed it after an hour or so on the phone. Is it an old age thing or does everyone find it hard to remember a month or so's transactions without looking at the account?

Of course it's an old age thing. I can't even remember getting it at all let alone what's on it.

I have a spreadsheet out to the next 3 years including my guesstimate of exchange rates. Don't know whether it is an old age thing but who can be bothered trying to remember all the stuff we need to know. 'neck top' computers are still the best even if you may wish to clone some additional memory.

I do it with our members list incase we have a forum crash. Spreadsheets like those that come with Excel also store details like members email addresses. Not a bad idea, but it's a matter of bothering to do it every month.

No idea what tools ProBoards give you but you 'may' be able to download a members listing into at least a minimum of a csv format spreadsheet? If possible might save mucking about just by being able to download the complete listing on whatever interval you want.

The framework is pretty basic unless you use their plug-ins which seem to cover a wide range of options. (I'll get around to reading them one day). A while back I switched to their new system which looked a lot better but was a little more complex (Banker never forgave me) but one of the things we lost was a members list that revealed email addresses. Subsequently I have to open each individual profile to get it which can be a pain.
By copying and pasting to a spreadsheet the "hidden" info is also transferred allowing me to access emails etc without needing the forum.
The ProBoards support forum is open to anyone interested with time on their hands.

Nice to catch up with Nomadic today.
He's aptly named, covers a lot of territory in the course of the year.

Just had an amazing purchase at the market. Normally buy all my vegies for the week for about A$6.00. Decided i hadn't eaten cabbage for ages so decided to buy one. There were big medium and small in piles so i took a medium one and was expecting 20 baht maybe (80 cents). But even i was shocked when he said 5 baht or 20 cents . Must be cheapest cabbage ever and i took from the top of the pile because i saw a sign once that said please take cabbages from the top of the pile or heads will roll. p.s. 2 avocados for 35 baht or A$1.20. Actually all those a tad less as i see it is now 26.76 to A$ today.

I'm pleased to see that pomelo/som-o is in season, this giant grapefruit is an essential part of my daily diet. They're one of the more expensive fruits around but one will usually last me two days.

I have a friend who has a tree so even cheaper for me than cabbages. Alas i'm not a fan at all. Give me a durian any day. Alas also, the last few years they have really gone up in price so not had any for years. 2 segments for 120 baht. paeng mark mark. 2 big leo's for same price. mai paeng.
