From the 'For what its worth' department:
Back in 'the good old days' of May 2011 to May 2012, when I was traveling overseas for 13 weeks at a time, I never gave C/L International an overseas address.
When I was 'pinged' for residency in May 2012 and because I returned overseas to an address I had given them until my return in August 2012 my Centrelink online address details were changed by them to show my home address as being that overseas address.
Once I was granted Unlimited Portability and prior to departing I advised C/L international of my new Australian address, which they updated immeadiately, and told them I would advise my overseas contact details once I had found a place.
Early in September, and within the 14 days notification of change of details period, I emailed to C/LI a copy of a letter to advise them that the Australian address could still be used for any postal communication and advising them of the overseas address and contact phone number for where I am staying here.
It took them some weeks to update the online details but it has now been done in what I find an interesting manner.
Unlike when I was 'pinged' for residency in May 2012 when they showed my 'Address type - Home' as being overseas they now show my 'Address type - Home' as the Australian address and I now have an 'Address type - Temporary' which is the overseas residence!
Go figure?!

This one. Change of circumstances while receiving Disability Support Pension You need to tell us if your circumstances change when you are receiving a payment. For example, if: your personal circumstances change you change your address your income changes you do not have to lodge a tax return your care arrangements change your work or study load changes you leave Australia If you do not tell us about the changes within 14 days your payment may be affected. You may be overpaid benefits and you will probably have to pay the money back. If you deliberately do not tell us about changes, you could be charged with fraud, and a recovery fee may be imposed. We do regular reviews to make sure that you continue to be eligible for payments and that your rate of payment is correct. www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/enablers/centrelink/disability-support-pension/change-of-circumstances
