All the more reason that we should form our own "union" with an Australian Pensioners Association!

All the more reason that we should form our own "union" with an Australian Pensioners Association! We need to do something, with ' Greed is Good GIna ' and ABbott, Hockey running the country , they would probably like an ASian style system with dirt low wages and little or no welfare system. l don't think GIna would be happy with $12 billion per year being spent on the DSP, she would rather those billions go to corporate welfare tax breaks for mining companies.

Quote from a book by Robert Kiyosaki, author of "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" that I've read long ago.
"poor people makes money, pay income tax and live on whatever leftover, rich people makes money, spend the most(inc.donation, charity, gifts, expensive toys etc.all tax deductible of-course and pay income taxes on whatever leftover"

@frugle,
I personally do not know Reinhart but I do know that her father fought the Australian government for years to be allowed to sell iron ore overseas.
But I personally know that once upon a time if you were stuffed for a job you could go and 'squat' on a river or near the sea and build your shack and grow and catch some food. But you can't do that anymore.
In fact the cost of housing would be more than halved if there wasn't so much bureaucratic dust that swirled around it from all the vested interests.
And once upon a time, if you didn't fit into the main stream, you could be an itinerant worker and be part on 'the sustenance' and pick up odd jobs whenever or wherever you could. But you would have somewhere to live.
But the world changed in the 1960's and its got worse since.
The clever people came along and said 'we can show you a better way'.
So they have sent manufacturing jobs overseas, they have shut down trade schools. They have made it that you are supposed to have a university ticket to get a job!
And if you are not in a Big Union or Big Government or Big Business then you are nothing.
But there is something like 2,500,000 Aged Pensioners, and there is over 800,000 on the Disability Support Pension and God only knows how many are unemployed.
And @frugle, please understand that I might know where you are coming from.
But everyone kindly understand this..... The Australian Constitution specifically charges the Australian Commonwealth Government to make laws for "Invalid and Aged Pensions" and once there was no difference.
But now 'they' have got rid of the "Invalid Pension" by calling it the Disability Support Pension.
And now 'they' all agree that the Disability Support Pension should be the National Disability Insurance Scheme!
And as far as I am concerned a scheme is what you create to take money off someone!
Let us form an Association!
