@frugle, of course he "wants" to... so would you or I if we were running the country.
But without real jobs he has got no hope.

My money is on the libs making a new welfare payment which is less money then dsp, maybe the same cash as newstart but for dsp people who the libs see as being able to work more than 8 hours a week. I hope this doesn't happen and maybe all of us on the dsp are worried for nothing. We won't know till the may budget what the "master's" have planned

It is not DSP and it is not Newstart. l think one idea they said they could have planned is to combine both newstart and the DSP into a single welfare payment for both the unemployed and the disabled, They keep saying newstart is too low compared to the DSP so the new single payment could be say $300 a week for all, but maybe the disabled get an extra top up of say $20-$50 per week medical allowance. Or as Boku said maybe a new DSP for people with partial work capacity that's the same rate as newstart and light mutural obligation requirements that's similar to sickness benefits. Hopefully neither of those things will happen. AS Hockey said " the age of entitlement is over" except for the wealthy of course, they keep all their entiltments

I am very worried.
I have a work capacity of 0 to 7 hours per week. I was assess under the new impairment tables last year. But I feel I could still lose my pension because I on DSP for mental illness

I doubt that anyone with your impairment level for any disability would be under threat.

l was thinking if ABBott tries to shift a lot of people off the DSP and onto newstart do you think the majority would appeal to the Social security appeals tribunal or the AAT, l defineltly would if it happened to me. l'd imagine the massive numbers of appeals could cost so much it could make the whole thing not worthwhile for abbott or could he bring in a law to stop appeals?

I thought I read somewhere that they want to "overhaul" the appeals system too.....no doubt to stop everyone from doing exactly that. I'll see if I can find it again..
