a little bit of subject here, but remember my sister in law that slipped in coles supermarket and smashed her elbow ,well here is an up date, She has been living on her own money plus husbands pension,Finding it hard going decided to ask for government assistance, Went to doctor and asked if he would give her a 3 month sick certificate that she could take to c/l, He said no worries, but ticked the box that said she could work TWO hr a week,SO down to c/l she went and they said because of that two hrs box being ticked she would have to go to the commonwealth rehabilitation centre,SO she did,and they are going to make her a 57 year old women do a computer course, C/L are going to give her $245 a week , no back pay, So she has gone from being an aged carer,of 30 plus years to being on the dole, and going to crc,No fault of her owne,And has payed thousands in doctors and lawyers bills and so far has herd nothing from coles.

Im interested to know why current DSP payments wont be effected, Is it purely because of some grandfather rule that's in place already?
Im not sure how they can justify paying 2 people with the same disability different rates although the article clearly says that will be the case

The bastards will rob every cent they can off us.

And then they will slowly try to cull existing recipients by reviewing all those under 40 ?

For those that do have portability, some advice.....
STAY OUT OF THE COUNTRY! open your bank in your host country and have c/l pay it direct. You cant be reviewed unless they want to fly out themselves :-))

Yes when people get reviewed do they get switched to the new lower payment or do they stay on the DSP, anyway there was a story on SBS news www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2014/03/02/create-jobs-dont-persecute-shortenOpposition Leader Bill Shorten has accused the government of putting the boot into disability pensioners and breaking an election promise. .Any move to combine the dole and disability pensions into a single welfare payment is just putting the boot into disabled people, the federal opposition says. The government is considering having a universal payment to cover disability pensioners and unemployed people, News Corp Australia reported on Sunday. Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews said there were perverse incentives at the moment because the disability pension paid more than Newstart. However, he said the government wouldn't change arrangements for people now getting the payments. But Opposition Leader Bill Shorten accused the government of persecuting people with disabilities and seeking to slash their incomes. "They seem to believe that everyone on the disability pension is rorting the system," he told reporters in Hobart. "That isn't true." The way to help people get off the pension was by creating jobs, not "putting the boot into them". He also warned age pensioners the government might be coming for their bank accounts next. "Once Mr Abbott's willing to break one promise on pensions, everyone on a pension should be very worried," Mr Shorten said. Mr Andrews told reporters in Melbourne the government needed to tackle welfare reform because the budget was in a dire position. The head of the government's welfare review, Patrick McClure, recommended to the Howard government in 2000 that it create a single, unified payment for all welfare recipients with top up amounts based on further need

If your pension is cancelled you can appeal that decision. If you win the appeal and it is found the decision is wrong then your granted pension is re-instated together with back-pay,they don't re-instate and back-pay another payment type. Anyways I hope this is the case, but kevin Andrews is very vague.

The New payment will probably be around $300, l bet they crap on about how generous they are giving the unemployed an extra $50 a week but they wont mention they are robbing the disabled who now get less. They say they will leave us current DSP recipiants on the same rate, but l bet its only a matter of time before they move everyone onto the same low rate maybe in 3 or 5 years or when everyone gets reviewed.

I agree. They wont chop it now because there will be protests and big drama for them so the sneaky little fu*ers will slowly get everyone via the backdoor

When are we going to hear the liberals cracking down on the rich who dodge paying their fair share of tax with tax advoidance schemes like family trusts, never l suppose. All they do is kick the poor and make the rich richer, cut welfare , cut the wages of the low paid. Let Qantas, Toyota, ford , SPC go under and put all the workers in a green army or slave army, l bet they give themselves another huge payrise after they pass it through the senate.
