Yep, it's probably just the start of the welfare reform and more to come.
When are we going to hear the liberals cracking down on the rich who dodge paying their fair share of tax with tax advoidance schemes like family trusts, never l suppose. All they do is kick the poor and make the rich richer, cut welfare , cut the wages of the low paid. Let Qantas, Toyota, ford , SPC go under and put all the workers in a green army or slave army, l bet they give themselves another huge payrise after they pass it through the senate.
never as they would have to crack down on themselves.

The New payment will probably be around $300, l bet they crap on about how generous they are giving the unemployed an extra $50 a week but they wont mention they are robbing the disabled who now get less. They say they will leave us current DSP recipiants on the same rate, but l bet its only a matter of time before they move everyone onto the same low rate maybe in 3 or 5 years or when everyone gets reviewed. What brand is your crystal ball? seems mine is a cheap one because i can't see what the govt is going to do? could you please give me the winning xlotto numbers while your at it

Hmm Politics. What about the portability rules brought in by Gillard and Rudd Tell me that they werent the most unfair treatment to pensioners wanting a better life for themselves Something that actually came back to bite them on the arse, Jenny Macklin singled out a very small group that she considered to have little public sympathy (old men up to who knows what overseas at the taxpayers expense) to show that the government was cracking down on abuse of the system. The resulting outcry, lead by DSPoverseas, resulted in the backing off and inserting the unlimited portability clause into the new legislation. Agreed, it's not perfect but it's better than we were going to get. What we are facing now is a threat to the very basic structure of the Australian welfare system. Lets hope that people can learn from our experience and take similar action against the new government.

On ABC Insiders last night they seem to think it will apply to a new applicants. Also they feel that payment for people with a disability will be less that the current DSP payment because the govt needs to save money.

It's not about saving, it's about spending what they haven't got, and if tax cuts continue, which they will, you will see services deteriorate right across the board. Education, Police, health, infrastructure.....

over the years things will get better for the government as far as lots of people on dsp, People now days do not do all the heavy work we old bastards did when we first started work, And that is what wore us out, some in early working life some later in working life, So there will be less and less on dsp, But new start is another thing,I personally do not think the jobs will ever be there again,So they will have to come up with a reasonable payment or people will be scrounging the dumps like they do in philippines and india. The politicans don't care as it wont be them or their wealthy mates scrounging in the dumps.

I agree with you in part mate. manual handling has changed over the years so us old dogs are the last of the serious muscular/skeletal mob but i can also see the rise in numbers due to the synthetic drugs young people are taking nowdays! These are dangerous psychotic drugs that are harmful and create serious mental issues in the young! This will be the biggest uptake in dsp in my opinion

Just read this 'Green Army' thing and it really gets up my nose. I see no problem with the Green Army idea in concept. But as usual they are planning it all wrong. This garbage about 30 hours a week at half minimum wage is crap. 3 days a week at minimum casual hourly rate is sensible as an option, but 30 hours slave labour is not.
3 days a week, or 7 days a fortnight, as long as they are consecutive, would still leave recipients time to look for permanent jobs and the government would be getting something in return for the payment. Just like any normal job.
I've never had a problem with earning a dole payment doing something useful at the going rate for a labourer or shop assisitant, but exempting the government from normal laws and requirements in order to exploit the unfortunate, at less than minimum wage, sounds very Nazi to me.
It is probably also unconstitutional somehow, although I can see nothign in the constitution to say the government has to obey the law.

These are dangerous psychotic drugs that are harmful and create serious mental issues in the young! This will be the biggest uptake in dsp in my opinion synthetic drugs are the least of the issues, ( drugs kill .. if your dead you wont need welfare ) However poisons in our foods, over use of antibiotics & the rise of supper bugs, ( Bird flu ... ect ect ) Then there's the pollution in our air, water & soil causing cancers, & diseases ... ( Genetically modified foods & deforestation & land clearing is leading to the rise of new diseases & infections every day. All that before we even touch on rising murder rate, terrorism, threats of wars, & anarchist's ... I don't know about you ... but im thinking mad max meets William Stranix under siege. With a tad of V for vendetta thrown in. youtu.be/KxrGDG-wGX8youtu.be/Gdv5EtZQ6jgyoutu.be/IHVzzxrPt1c& if the cost of food & petrol rise much further, & jobs losses keep going the way they have been. Then we may see this world sooner than you think. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bmf-HCCZYOg&list=PL9AB3C620B9C7BBBEwww.youtube.com/watch?v=KKvvOFIHs4kyoutu.be/SYrHx6dj0mU
