I've read on the forum if we leave before December 31, we will still get six weeks in 2015 with a possible four weeks further down the track, should the new rules pass the senate in July. Well I don't quite know about that. Here's a little story about my day.
Just knocked off! Wotta day. Worked my bum, fingertips, eyes 'n' ears off, speaking with the Centre. Hung 'round, you know waiting 'n' waiting 'n..........
Met Sara, Sara is Cheese. She told me I would be unable to make an appointment in person at my local office, listened to some of my plight, gave me my requested information. Then listened to some more of my plight, said "Yes, that is interesting. The department does have room to move if a sound reinterperatation of the guidelines can be shown to allow it to work. But I can't do that." She said again, so I got her title, a receipt and was transferred to International Affairs, who do do that sorta thing.
Michelle, well Michelle was definately the chalk. She berated my eardrums with everything I already knew about UP, and said from looking at my file, my travel plans for the rest of the year are not a problem unless changes due to take effect on Jan 01 2015, pass through the senate.
She told me, "You may want to reconsider that one. If the changes get through the senate you won't be able to leave again until January 2016."
I liked the chalk a lot more after that and thanked her for the heads up, whilst thinking how lucky am I, being able to pick my yearly one month holiday should the changes get through the senate in July, and I already have the next one and a half booked and paid for. It's the lucky country all right.
Cheers bear
