Members here are discussing the possibility of a class action against the Telegraph over an abusive and insulting to DSP recipients news article that was condemned by the Press Council.
I'm going to run a poll here that I will watch carefully to see the level of enthusiasm among regular contributors to the forum. Should this be high then I'll then advertise it's presence in a newsletter to appeal to a wider range of members to contribute.

Ok, back again after 4 days in hospital with dengue. Second time round is far worse so they say and i can say that is correct. do not get bitten is only advice. Class action sounds fantastic to me. after reading an article linked to the forum by the herald sun a while back maybe we could add them to it as well. It is my intention to visit the herald sun on my next visit in march and confront them with their total lie of a story. It was the most deceitful and untrue headline in history. I am infuriated my it. So i am more than happy to partake in a class action.

We really need some sort of class action. I have been accused by Shortens office among others of being a rorter a few years ago. I complained to every possible org that i could. From Human services to Ombudsman to political party groups. It was all a waste of time as these people are without doubt above the law. Shortens office denied in the media i was mistreated. Thus he infers i am a liar. And there is no way to take them to task other than by way of the courts. I have again contacted another class action law firm and will pass on any info if they reply to me. 300 rorters out of a million. Says it all about those chickens Banjo talks about. I am legitimately on DSP. I wish i wasn't but sometimes bad luck wins out. But if this forum can achieve something big against the vile elite then i am glad I was unlucky.

I'm in. What the article? Pretty sure it's about the offensive 'Slackers & Slouch hats' story or it could be about the 'Lifters and Leaners' article. Probably other articles about 'Rorters' as well. It's all very offensive.

Heres an interesting case, another Murdoch paper is being sued for calling Kiwis dole bludgers. IF that paper is successfully sued for calling KiWis bludgers then maybe we have a good case agains the Daily Telegraph for calling disability pensioners 'bludgers; au.ibtimes.com/articles/532393/20131231/new-zealand-australia-lawsuit-rupert-murdoch-news.htm#.VI0yMt-4bb0Rupert Murdoch's News Corp Faces Lawsuit from Kiwi Rights Group for Racism Rupert Murdoch's News Corp is under fire for running articles depicting New Zealanders as "backdoor migrants" and "dole bludgers." Kiwi rights group in Australia OzKiwi is considering legal action against the media company for its racist label of Kiwis. In a TVNZ report, OzKiwi's David Faulkner was shocked by the articles featured in the Saturday edition of Brisbane's Courier Mail, Northern Territory News and other papers under the Murdoch-owned News Corp. Headlines like "Kiwi layabouts are flooding in" and "immigration back door" are referring to stereotypes of New Zealanders, according to Mr Faulkner. He remarked that the articles had dubious figures and racially charged statements against Asians and Pacific Islanders. The Kiwi rights lobby group believes News Corp has violated Australia's Racial Discrimination Act. Mr Faulkner accused the media company for promoting myths of Kiwi dole bludger and the idea of New Zealand being used by migrants as a "backdoor" to Australia. The articles were allegedly nothing more than a "racist beatup" based on faulty statistics. OzKiwi has sent a letter of complaint to News Corp regarding the issue. The group has amassed over a thousand signatures in support of a massive class action against the Mr Murdoch's media company. Mr Faulkner has threatened to push through with the lawsuit unless News Corp will issue an apology and retraction. According to Mr Faulkner, statistics only proves the opposite of the controversial statements about Kiwis. He said as of July 2012, the unemployment rate for Kiwis living in Australia was at 4.8 per cent compared to native Australians at 4.9 per cent. There were more New Zealand-born residents in the workforce than Australians at 78.2 per cent and 68 per cent respectively. Mr Faulkner reiterated it was dangerous for both New Zealand and Australia to promote the bludger stereotype. The Courier Mail has claimed that many migrants from Asia and the South Pacific have been using New Zealand to avoid Australia's strict migration policies. Mr Faulkner remarked that the public might get the wrong idea about New Zealand. OzKiwi observed that the timing of News Corp's coverage is "ironic" since the number of New Zealanders moving to Australia has declined since 2012. Australia Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully said the government was aware of the problems some New Zealanders face in the country. Mr McCully advised Kiwis who are planning to move to Australia to make sure they know their rights.

I fully support the intended class action and if there was a class action against the federal government i would certainly join that too,i was bashed by 7 scumbags in an unprovoked attack in 1997 left with ABI injuries post traumatic stress and physical injuries if the government wants to save money reduce. Politicians pay and perks and take ways the privileges for scumbags in jail instead .

I must say, I do support going through a class action lawsuit in regards to this.
Want to know something, I tried to join the defense force, but was knocked back because I could not answers the first test questions and got upset at them too. From what I have seen, you don't just rock-up and join, you must meet a criteria, before you can go anywhere.
I will say, Yes. There are people out there who do nothing to abuse the system. But to use 'the numbers' in this way, is just utterly wrong and confusing.
Tell you what, I'll get a job, when someone f**king hires me.
