I recently had to extend my marriage visa here in Thailand and used the latest notification from centrelink(November) as the statement on my payment that I receive. A couple of days ago I got a new statement that has dropped the amount I am paid by $50, has anyone else had their supplement payments dropped, I can understand the $14 for the power supplement but they have also dropped $42 from the main supplement payment and given no explanation. Would be nice to know what they are doing as it removes any increase from the pension amount I have been receiving.

Hi Saejae. Those on DSP even with UP after 42 days absence have their pension supplement reduced to minimum. It equates to a reduction per fortnight of $56.10. CL state that the supplement is only payable within Australia ( no reason given as to why).
I assume the same applies to OAP. One can only assume their justification is that the supplement when paid in full is for assistance with utilities within Australia.
CL tend to look at things oddly. In fact, if they were to pay those who were absent from Australia more, it would save the govt more, as when absent one is not drawing on Australian medical services, housing and rental assistance. A progressive rather than punitive govt would understand this, but I am sure they look at punishment as justice for some reason.
Many who are wishing to obtain their OAP are forced to return to Australia and serve a 2 year qualyfing period before they can have their payment portable overseas. It seems on reading and indeed pointed out by many here, there is no rule to determine actaually how long one must have been absent before returning to obtain portability of OAP. 2 years of forced residency will add extra costs to govt with medical, housing, transport etc that otherwise would not have been required if portability was granted immediately.
Some think that many within CL and govt think those living overseas somehow have a hidden pot of income and if regulations are made even harder, then those will give up any application for OAP. The very fact that people are returning and living out the 2 year residence blows a hole in that myth.

You will notice the photo showing how we all live and they are jealous of us all. Actually my place of abode is even better. I have a bigger private pool and i live on caviar and fly my own private jet. They would be even more jealous when i tell them i can do this all on dsp. I think some refer to them as losers. and that they are. Politicians, media and a fair share of the general Australian public. The world only revolves around their own posterior.

I once wrote to a journalist who had written a book that was partly responsible for the downfall of a state premier. A few years later the politician died and the same journo wrote a lengthy article praising his work for the state. I pointed out the earlier book and asked why he had changed his tune and he replied, "the book was just a piece of journalism". And refused to discuss it further.

You would have to look it up to confirm but the pension supplement if outside Australia on Indefinite/Unlimited Portability is AUD$22.50 and the pension is AUD$788.40.

thanks everyone, that explains it. Yes it reverted to $22.50 after I used the original payment notice as my proof for my extension, hopefully it wont matter.
