Hi all, as you know I have already been granted UP over a year ago but now I am planning to live in Australia as the dollar has crumbled and will continue to do so. I'm thinking it will be a better and cheaper life here in Oz if my thoughts are correct.
If I will bring my fiance here get married and she gets visa 309 then she would become eligible for a carers pension or am I wrong.
Cheers Aussie25

Unless there are other reasons I wouldn't return to Australia. It won't be cheaper.
Also there is a two year residence requirement for carers payment.

I am living in Cebu city just back here in Oz for a few weeks right now. I am just tired of living in a very polluted city with lots of beggars on the streets and the food here is not something I can eat every day in the long term unfortunately I miss my aussie steak.
Here in a few mining towns in QLD rent and sale values have collapsed by A lot so renting here is now very cheap compared to what I could get in Cebu so much more space for the $$$.
Also if my partner of almost 5 years could get permanent residency I think it would be best for her in the long run she could even work. She has been here before and says she much prefers it here even if missing her family and she also loves the food in Aus.
Thailand is still on my radar however at our age is pretty much impossible to stay long term with the visa issues.
Also my biggest concern is the noise levels when I'm trying sleep at nights with chickens always Cocka doing and I have moved around the city a bit with the same result. I'm thinking if I moved to the province It would be even worse?

Sometimes it's a case of "be careful what you wish for...". Living overseas can be living the dream for many people, for others the novelty wears off after a while.
If you're convinced it's not for you then I suggest you start to put your return plans into action. I suspect that getting married in the Philippines and informing Centrelink may be the first move, there will be an initial loss of pension as you go onto the married rate but then you apply for an exemption. You also apply for a visa for your wife.
When you return to Australia you can discuss your situation with Centrelink regarding benefits.
