Well Chris, the legislation hasnt been tabled yet. I've read through the senate committee contributions and seen some of the objections from a vast number of groups, which Banjo will allude to, had not been interested when the DSP people went through a similar thing. This time is very different. The govt have upset a huge number of groups which occupy a substantial proportion of the vote.
The ALP and Greens have stated they will not support the changes. Other cross benches in the senate are unknown, but given the other troubles govt has, one would think perhaps the wont table it for a vote.
Its part of the so called "budget repair"......

Axing of the pensioner education supplement and the pension education entry payment is a disgrace. More education is key to getting people off welfare dependence and every opportunity should be supported.

This is apparently different legislation than the one I mention on the other thread? Two year residency and etc.
Or same package?

I'm back at TAFE again this year, and applied for the Pensioner Education Supplement. Since it is meant to be abolished from the 1st of Jan 2016, according to the bill, will be interested to see how this is dealt with. I did read that the committee report recommended a transition, but that wasn't defined.
From memory, the Social Securities bills were broken up, and this was the last bill that seemed the least likely to pass.
I will be watching this closely.
Edit: Just found this in the sacked Minister Porters bill speech regards bill history
"This bill also takes the opportunity to reintroduce some further measures from the 2014 budget, all of which are currently before the Senate in the Social Services and Other Legislation Amendment (2014 Budget Measures No. 4) Bill 2014. The reintroduced measures will no longer proceed as part of that 2014 bill."

I think it was sacked minister Robert. But, since so many of them have fallen, its hard to keep up with Yes, I am sure your correct about the bill being broken up. If it was to pass, how would a reduction in the Education Supplement affect you? Would TAFE absorb the cost; would your course be cancelled or would you face a fee. And if so, how much would that be? If I have this individual detail, I will pass it to my contact in The Greens who would be able to use in the second reading and perhaps try to sway the cross benches with some individual case detail of how it affects people.

No, it means part of the payment reduces at 6 weeks away, instead of 26.
