Thanks Banjo and Mike ,, that has set my mind at ease some what .
From reading that ,, they may well have trouble getting it out to the general population.
I have been in quite a state ,, think I m safe to dial it back a bit. For now,, I shall certainly keep my eye on it . Also email my concerns .

Nocraptalk, I'm glad this issue is more in perspective for you now. Having read your first posts this morning, it was clear there was a need to provide some up to date information about what is actually occuring now.
The senators office replied within minutes to my request for an update as I did mention some members are very anxious about this issue.

A card of this nature would be a logistic nightmare - like the Patrick McClure welfare reforms it will be dead and buried in 12 months time ..... Nothing is going to change .....

Corporate welfare is not really welfare, it stimulates the economy.

Australian Unemployed Workers' Union via ActionNetwork.org contact@unemployedworkersunion.com via sg.actionnetwork.org 10:08 AM (5 hours ago) to me
AUSTRALIANS in the welfare system will be out in force tomorrow in a National Day of Action against the Federal Government's cashless welfare card.
The protest will be outside the State Library, Melbourne at 12 noon, Saturday, March 12. Rallies will also be held in Brisbane and Sydney.
The 'Healthy Welfare' Card restricts 80 per cent of an unemployed welfare recipient's entitlement to a VISA-style debit card that cannot be spent on alcohol or gaming. Just 20 per cent of the welfare payment can be used as cash.
The Coalition Government plans to impose its income management system across three trial locations, starting shortly in Ceduna, South Australia, and later in the East Kimberley in Western Australia with a third location yet to be announced. When rolled out across these locations, the Healthy Welfare Card will be imposed on more than 10,000 unemployed Australians. The Government has indicated it wants to roll out the system nationally if the trials are successful.
But welfare groups have slammed the plan, claiming it is demeaning, invasive, unworkable and bureaucratic.
The president of the Australian Unemployed Workers' Union Owen Bennett said the card would "turn unemployed Australians into second-class citizens".
"Denying unemployed Australians the basic right to shop where they want is a shocking attack on the rights and dignity of Australia's most poor and vulnerable".
"For most unemployed workers, buying second-hand goods or going to the market is the only way to survive on the Newstart entitlement - a payment that is already $190 per week below the poverty line", said Bennett.
"The card is a shameless attempt to distract people from the Government's systematic failure to create jobs". According to the Government's own statistics, in Australia there are 11 job seekers per job vacancy. Mr Bennett said this 'dire situation' had made the average duration of unemployment more than four years.
“Exactly how will forcing unemployed Australians to live on just $60 cash per week address the growing employment crisis?”.
The card was proposed by billionaire mining magnate Andrew 'Twiggy' Forrest in his 2014 review into Indigenous Employment. Under his initial proposal, Forrest demanded the card be 100 per cent cashless.
Both the Coalition and the Labor party have supported trialling the card and it passed the Senate 37 votes to 10 on October 14, 2015, though Greens community services spokeswoman Rachel Siewert said there were a number of unanswered questions about merchant fees and other banking charges.
Potential cardholders in Ceduna are concerned about privacy, consumer protection, banking charges and the ability to stretch the 20 per cent cash component to cover a range of costs such as mortgage payments and other services that require cash.
Ceduna 'Anti-cashless card' working group convenor Dave Pav said aboriginal communities were advising the Government the card should be targeted as specific offenders. 'We are being treated like animals in a feed lot' he said.

I of course hope and prey this doesn't go nation wide . Surprised Labor backed it . Amongst other rules on this card , That I'm learning ,, You can not transfer cash from One account to another , matter of fact , the whole system Is THEIR own bank set up. So , I would default on my home loan , as a condition of my home loan ,,is that my pension be paid into my CUA account . It's not just , no pubs or bottle shops . It's no direct debit payments ,, no transfers , no car loans ,
People are affected now . It's not hurting me yet , but it is others . The trial is actually 2 years , tho touted as one .
One can only hope ,, this goes down in a ball of flames .

I'll be taking my teeth out and earning cash the old way, I will get my friends to buy THEIR groceries on my card , then they can give me the cash . All sorts of dirty deals done dirt cheap will appear. I believe , no direct debit ,if so, so my insurance and rates ,, paid in cash ,, take $160 of that $180 . ( tho that needs checking ) Of course , if you loose your card ,, dead meat. If the system is down and your shopping , your stuck . Lordy. Fcuk I'm not even out of the country a year what the hell are they doing Labor included.. You mentioned DSP'rs I'm on Indefinate portability and my accident happened in Australia surely they cant touch that , we have an exemption......

The Ceduna blokes comment is the best I have seen. All these sorts of 'draconian' measures should be targeted at the offenders. 'They' know who they are but because of "equality" they cannot bring themselves to focus on those 'difficult' folk specifically. Reminds me of the 1980's campaign against 'dole bludgers'. Back then some folk were telling me that there were 'this many' on Unemployment Benefits. I used to say that if 'They' know that there are 'this many' then 'They' know who they are so stop branding all Unemployed Benefit recipients with the same brush. The exact same arguments are now being used against DSP recipients. For those of us that are overseas all I can say to the Govt. is that I'll have my pension payment in BitCoins thanks.

This whole deal is a very long way from " us",, at this time . The Ceduna area trial ,, is now two years ,, One would think , they trial would be first ,, Luckily The Greens are totally against it. Don't think we should worry at this time , Enjoy your portability. ))

I tend to agree that the welfare card, rolled out acros the board for all, is a long way off. Those people in Ceduna though are having to deal with a vile interference in their lives and it needs to be stopped now.
The sheer cost of it is just too stupid for it to have gone this far. It should fail and very quicky but people lives in the catchment area are being affected now. I have not been able to ascertain if anyone in any of the catchment areas is DSP and UP. I will be attempting to urgently find out if there are any and what their status is. On the main FB page banjo has linked above I see no reference whatsoever to DSP and UP. I will though speak with CL international this week to see if there is any ruling on UP and the debit card.

Just a small calculation about Forrests welfare card : 800,000 DSP pax X $7,700.00 (the cost of administering the card per year) = $6.16 BILLION. The people in Ceduna on this card number 800 pax. Thats $6.16 MILLION per year for the trial.
