as many retired australian live or work in thailand,philipines or other south-asia countries, are these countries family friendly for a australian family with teenage kids?

I wouldn't suggest raising a family there WB unless you had a job that included an education package for the children or could afford to do it yourself. They would need to go to a private school which is expensive, having to learn Thai or Tagalog (Filipino) from scratch along with getting a decent education would be a huge task in a local school.

As Banjo has indicated, an international contract with a full package of family benefits, housing and school fees might make a difference.
Aussie/American kids born in Asia are different in that they grew up in the culture and speak the language.
