Thank you for allowing me to join. I read a very positive mention of this board on another site which mentioned to start with a post to detail my situation and to mention the areas of advice I would kindly appreciate. But I'm not sure if this is right place to do that, so I would very much appreciate some guidance, thank you.

alanurbana you can use this section of the forum (new members area) to create your own new thread introducing yourself if you like The members here are great with help regarding all things centrelink and disability/pension etc.

G'day alanurbana, your first post threw me a little. A quote of the fourth post on page one. What's he on about? Anyhow looks like you've got the posting sorted. In order to give you the right advice as already advised; either continue on here or start a dedicated thread on the General Board. Tell us the issue and we'll certainly do our best to help. Again; welcome aboard! Cheers bear

Welcome alanurbana. Doesn't take much to throw bear. I do it all the time. But he knows his stuff and is not as silly as some of us. Welcome aboard. The more the merrier. Hope we can help.

Hi everyone, I'm new here today. I tried to create thread??? But not sure if it works or where is the appropriate place to post my question.
I don't know where else to go to get some answers... If anyone can point me in the right direction and excuse my ignorance that would be appreciated.
I am on a DSP and am an Australian citizen/resident. I am 37 years old, single with no dependants.
I am, at this stage capable of working/studying part-time (so as not to exceed the 30hrs)
I want to go to Vietnam next year for 12 months... but nearly every site tells me this is impossible without losing my pension!!
I thought I may have found a way, when I stumbled across a criteria that states I could possibly be allowed to study full time overseas without having my payment cut off, if I am studying an australian approved course.
I found many TAFE courses that I would be willing to commit to during my time away...
However, to the best of my recollection, studying FULL-TIME exceeds the 30hrs and therefore would still affects my DSP payment...?
So now I'm confused!!
Can I sign up to an Australian approved course and study it part-time via distance/online... stretching it out over the duration of my intended stay??
Otherwise, does anyone have any other ideas/suggestions about how to get around this?
Could I work part-time at a bar or perhaps helping to teach English???
Please help. Thanks in advance
