Sorry mate, power went out for 3rd time today so had to shut down. I'm still on 2 month renewals and I have done 3 weeks in advance so I can't see why you couldn't get a 6 month renewal 4 weeks in advance. Cheers

Just briefly, talking about a different country, I got myself in a fair bit of trouble this year with my Thai visa by looking at my "report date" instead of the date the visa expired making me 15 days late. The resulting overstay meant I was fined $20 a day and had to leave the country to go to the nearest Thai Embassy to start over, four months later I'm finally back to where I was, poorer but wiser, with my relevant dates written in texta on an A4 sheet hanging over my computer desk.

Banjo, you are lucky. I have read stories in the Thai newspapers and media, about falang, white Westerners, who have been arrested and taken to Immigration Detention, even for being a few weeks overdue. This would be a Thai policeman who strictly enforces the law. But at the border you are allowed to pay about 500B per day overdue.
Edit by Banjo: No references to the Thai Royal Family please.

... as a reward for your humanitarian works in Thailand, assisting in the exodus of one million Aussie pensioners to the Land of Smiles.

In theory you can be locked up for a day's overstay.
Forgive me for editing your post, I'm sure that if you look through the forum long enough you will see a rule about discussing the Thai royal family.

Glory be! I have occasionally gone over the visa renewal date here, about a week, but in the Philippines you pay a fine. Sometimes my disabilities make it difficult for me to travel. I wish you could do it online.

I wish you could do it online When i was in Philippines, i lived on an Island , and had to travel to Cebu to renew visa. Once , when i was due , there was no ship , cause of bad weather, Several days later , my wife and managed to get ship, and Immigration was understanding , no fines. But like Denis said , be better if could do online.

I'd never trust it, I'd never get a winks sleep until I saw it in black and white. Edit: You can do the 90 day report for the retirement visa here on line.

Renewed my Phillipine 6 month visa yesterday 3 weeks early and no problem. The head Phillipine immigration office hours are 8am to 5pm. Arrived early at 7.15am and the place was open for business. One hour later walked out with 6 month extension and new AC card, too easy.

I always thought that the Philippines was one of the easiest and friendliest countries for non-immigrant visas. Visitors and long term residents contribute considerably to the economy because of this.

In Thailand you largely get what you contribute, go in with attitude and boy, do you get it back.
Be friendly, polite and un-argumentative and things will normally go well.
