Any views on where would be most appropriate to live with school age children? Just a very vague idea at the moment buy I'm starting to consider that overseas may be a better option once I have medically retired. My daughter will still be school age and would be a primary consideration in any move. Thanks

The missionaries seem to have their children up here in northern Thailand but they mainly home school.
I'd think twice about putting a child into an Asian school system as the standards are fairly low and I'd suggest there would be language problems except that I went to school with large numbers of migrant and refugee kids and they seemed to pick up pick up the language very quickly. There are private schools where most working expats send their children but the fees are high.
Some people do it though and I dare say that their kids are none the worse for the experience. At least they see through the fear of anyone different bullshit.

In Chiang Mai Thailand There are many International Schools It will cost a lot of money Compared to back home It will depend on what country and where you want to live There should be a International School register on the Internet As when i was in Adelaide our principal had our school internationally reconised that way the teachers were able to work anywhere in the world It was an experience going through the process
The part about living with Children I see it happen here all the time Western man marry Thai woman She leaves he looks after the child Most times goes back to there native country Takes the child back with them I only recently found about someone i know Married again had a son Goes from one husband to another

Have you learnt yet Banjo? Life is full of irony. When i was young and on the look out i had no luck now I have a dozen chasing me and not even vaguely interested. the most over rated thing on earth once your body malfunctions. Back on the subject though and bedwin and Banjo are spot on. I think it would be a marvelous experience for kids to spend part of their education in another country. But as Banjo said the Thai system is sub standard to say the least.

Thanks for the replies I may look more at a long break if we can afford to do International School fees for a period of time. I had a number of international students when I was at school as we were located close to a military college. The experience was amazing and I would love my daughter to experience something like it.
