I no longer use OrbitRemit as I have a direct payment every 4 weeks. But they still send me update emails and they are saying they now can transfer money to Thailand. Have no idea what it costs but last time I saw they would charge a minimal fee. For those in Thailand that want to compare you can find them at www.orbitremit.com/They offer a reward system for recommendations but I can't be bothered. Cheers Denis

The example on their homepage is amazing, a $6 fee for a $1000 transfer NZ>PI. Western Union use to charge 10% for that amount.

They offered me $150 if I get 3 folk from Thailand to sign up on my recommendation. If any 3 members do wish to sign up under my name I will tip the $'s into the dspoverseas account. Not sure if the $'s are Australian or NZ.

First transfer happened yesterday without incident, set up for recurring. Cost $4.00, WU would've been $10.00, so it all adds up. Twice a month will pay for my petrol. If it's there by Tuesday I'll be the flavour of the month. Thanks Denis!

That's all I ever catch! Sangathaws in the city (Chiang mai), $1.25 anywhere. Flash buses for long distance about $4.00 up to 150-200kms and District Buses to get around, average $2.50 Ya gotta love it! Cheers bear

I have a (now old) diesel ute I fill about once a month for $40. It inflicts a couple of serious bills around April/May... rego and insurance... but it gets me, and what ever junk I'm carting, around to the tune of about 10,000kms a year in relative comfort.
I never drove in the Philippines, even crossing the road used to give me the horrors there, but bussed, ferried and flew around quite happily at minimal cost. My favourite trip was Manila to Cataclan in what seemed like a minibus with wings. Flew very low over the magnificent sea, volcanoes and islands. About $20 I think.

Bicycle is the way to go boys and girls. Cost free after purchase and sexier legs. Songtaew in Mai as bear said although mostly only 20 baht, 90 cents if you can pretend you can talk Thai. and banjo in Rai. Plan is to be in both in another month but my plans only happen when i do them. Cheap as.

Let me know, I currently have no plans to travel this year but like yours, they can change. bear and Denis-NFA I'm going to take another look at OrbitRemit, I went into a bit of a paranoia fit over some of the personal details I was expected to provide but I'm going to need to do a cash transfer this year some how.

My first transfer went off without a hitch and have set up auto recurring. Will keep you informed. Cheers bear.
