I'm sorry I didn't mention this before but this coming Saturday 22/7/2017 is a bit of a celebration in my local community.
I am not sure how many tribes the Spanish pulled together to make Argao but each 'suburb' has their own celebration.
If any members might be in the general area you are welcome to attend.
I'm doing nothing myself but sit back and watch it all. I can't do much these days which saddens me.
We have a pig and various sea foods.
Like I said, any DSPoverseas type folk are more than welcome. Plenty of room.
You should be able to hear the celebration in Thailand.
I'll get some pictures.

These local festivals can be fun and good camera opportunities as well. We have various tribal folk up here that like a good get together.

Doesn't worry me, I'm deaf anyway.
The old ways are dying out now, the missionaries don't like it. Ten years ago there were any number of people in traditional dress around here but now it's just a few old ladies. Drive into their mountain homeland and it's the same.
They still grow good coffee though.

Ten years ago there were any number of people in traditional dress around here but now it's just a few old ladies. Drive into their mountain homeland and it's the same. They still grow good coffee though. Given that the Philippines is basically Catholic/Christian the 'feast day' is wrapped around that religion. But the old 'animistic' ways are everywhere. I am not sure where in the seasons we are but I notice that new plantings of rice are occurring. And it's a bit hard to judge because there is a lot of rice grown around here all the time. What we are doing is just a smallish thing for family, friends and neighbors but up around the corner they have a huge stage where they play continuous music for a couple of days and you would be welcomed for a feed or a drink in any house you might care to visit. Local folk still attend the local version of 'faith' healers and next door, my landlord, slaughtered a goat to assist in the healing of the old grandmother. She is still alive. A couple of years ago I went to another barangay's celebration and they had a woman perform a fire dance like the Indonesians are renowned for.

denis, just thinking long term for October. How far are you from Cebu? ( I have no geography knowledge of pines at all). Deciding on where next visa run will be to. Probably oz or Cambodia but maybe the pines as I have a friend who may be there also. Where he is/will be i don't know. A bit of a puzzle at the moment but maybe. Cheap Cebu pacific flights come into play also. Will decide on oz in next few weeks and if not will decide on where in weeks after that.
