Fares for pensioners on Australia’s only traditional ocean liner, Athena, have been discounted by more than $1000 and supplements for solo pensioners cut down to as little as $200 on a voyage from Italy to Australia this November.
The special discounts offered by Classic International Cruises are for Australian Pensioner Concession Card holders on Athena’s 33-night voyage on November 15, 2011, from Rome to Perth where Athena will be based this summer as well as Adelaide.
Athena’s voyage from Europe to Australia will take passengers to Naples and Messina in Italy, Valletta in Malta, Port Said in Egypt for tours to the pyramids, Aqaba in Jordan, Salalah in Oman, Phuket in Thailand and Singapore.
The full 33-night voyage from Rome to Perth is now available from $3995 per person, twin-share for Pensioner Card holders (was $4995) while fares for solo pension card holders are now available from $5195 for single use of a cabin, which is only $200 more than the twin-rate and $1049 less than the normal solo use fare.
A shorter 26-night sector on this cruise from Rome to Singapore is also available for pensioner card holders from $3185 per person, twin-share, or from $4095 for solo travellers. And a 24-night leg from Rome to Phuket is now priced from $2950 per person, twin-share, for pensioner card holders, and from $3795 for solo passengers with pensioner cards.
The special fares are for new bookings only in selected cabins, for holders of Australian Pensioner Concession Cards, subject to availability.
Offering 15 cruises in Australia this summer, the classic-styled, mid-sized Athena carries only 550 passengers in an intimate, yacht-like atmosphere and boasts personal, old-fashioned service, a relaxed onboard atmosphere and fine cuisine as well as traditional wooden deck chairs, marbled reception foyer, pool, fitness centre and sauna, five bars and lounges, nightclub, showlounge, casino, library, boutiques, cinema and two restaurants.
