Wow , why did they take the photo and finger print, did they give a reason ? Is it because you are a alien Every airport these days at least takes every passengers photo and many take fingerprints also. While denis is an alien (banana bender), this is not the reason. It is everyone 100%.

It's all about immigration procedures; if you want to leave, if you want entry, you comply. Arguing with IO's about procedure is not the smartest thing to do; even as an Aussie in Australia, let alone S.E. Asia. Cheers bear

If the immigration people at Manila tell to stand on one leg with one arm raised at the same time, no problem. In my working years I spent a lot of time in West Africa where at the immigration posts there are soldiers with AK47's at the ready, one time after doing a month on the rig I was about to board the plane when one of these soldiers demanded, did not ask, but demanded 100 u.s. dollars before I could get on the plane, yes he got it.
Ever been to Heathrow where Aussies are treated none the better.
After doing a six weeker on the rig I arrived in Sydney none to happy and they had the sniffer dogs at the planes offloading gate, I seem to recall saying something about being delayed, the officer said to me 'Keep up that attitude and you will be delayed a lot longer", never ever again in the 25 years plus of travelling did I get smart with anyone at the immigration counter, or customs. I did declare a bag of peppers once and the lady at customs asked me if I had anything else to declare, or if I wanted her to get out the gloves. glad she was only joking.

Immigration officials are the most officious and zealous officials on earth. Once after clearing customs in Melbourne after the longest queues ever seen I walked past a customs officer and moaned about the delays and lack of open counters. She snarled at me and demanded to see my passport even though I was already cleared. And as you say they cannot be questioned in any way as they have all the power and can ruin your day in so many ways. Full body search please sir? No reason needed.

I have a friend here in Chiang Rai who spent many years working for Australian Immigration. He said that on the whole they were not bad people but got resentful when they were confused with Customs officers who had a richly deserved bad reputation. He claimed that he refused promotion on a number of occasions as it involved transferring to Customs.

a blast from the past. banjo? who as usual corrects me at least a tad. Yes, customs in Oz but both in other places. I think but could be confused. Let's just say, airport officials. Although many complain about Thai immigration staff and I have never had a problem with their supposed unfriendly attitude. P.S. Plan (for now), is to be up your way early Oct.

I heard Thailand is getting hard now to get in Only if you don't play by the rules cripple. A heap of people don't play by the rules, and are the first to complain on social media; even when they know they're in the wrong and were just trying it on. Cheers bear

Never really had any trouble at Immigration or Customs I guess they are just doing a job and trying to keep the country safe if you abide by the rules there is nothing to worry about, if you're carrying something you shouldn't well then I guess you deserve whats coming. I only had grief once leaving Darwin but was over it quickly (Immigration) Bomb search The trick is to remain calm it's over in a Nano second soon you're away enjoying yourself....

Yep, seatbelt sign goes off and a pre-dinner beer before a meal with a glass or three of red. What 's not to like about that?
