Hi I was wondering how the system works if I go overseas for a holiday and still owe Centrelink a bit from a loan I took. Would I be stopped from going? It would be the normal loan that they deduct payments from over six months. I’m not sure I will need the loan but don’t want to take one if it will cause a problem. I would appreciate a Centrelink link if anyone knows of one, I can’t find one. Thanks

Hi Ann I've taken out the 1200 dollar loan whilst in Australia and paid it back through their deductions whilst i was oversees. The only specific is that you have to be on Australian soil to be granted the loan, you can't take out the loan by accessing their website whilst you are outside the country. I dont have a link, just personal experience.

I also had loans to help finance my flights years ago and then I would fly out the next day almost. So I don't see it as a problem. But as always with Centrelink. BUT?

Ah thanks for all this info. I don’t need it but thought it prudent to know my facts - just in case. Centrelink is hard to understand. Thanks
