Hello,
how is everyone going?
I got my first ndis plan a few weeks ago.
It was a “small” plan according to my LAC as I have not got an OT assessment yet.
NDIS refused me a support coordinator, my LAC told me that is because I have her to help me. My LAC is of no real help to me though, she has basically left me with the plan and to my own devices, I am yet to figure out how I get my transport funding.
I am now using my plan to get an OT assessment and go for a review as they didn’t give me what was asked for under capacity building (which I found odd because I’ve been accepted under early intervention, although my physio said he wants to apply for the full scheme when I am done with early intervention as he thinks ill need it for life)
My psychologist is a pain psychologist and provided a letter explaining my need for psychology and so I did get funded for psychology but not enough. They gave me 12 sessions on ndis as they said I can also supplement that with a mental health plan. My psychologist flipped his lid when he found out they gave me 12. Not because he can not work with 12 sessions but for the fact that some bureaucrat decided I need 12 and they didn’t even consult him when he is the expert.
I was also denied a dietician even though I have gastroparesis and this was considered as part of my disability when ndis accepted me as it is caused by my genetic condition.
Despite the problems though I have to say it has been amazing to be able to update my physiotherapy plan and finally get back on track as I have been doing the same exercises from the physio like Groundhog Day for over a year now due to the fact that I have been paying for my own physiotherapy before this.
I would have put in for a review of my ndis plan to ask for more but they said I have to do a review after I get my OT functional assessment anyway as they only gave me enough funding for the assessment and not for ongoing OT as they don’t know what or how much I need. So I am hoping that my OT can also put in for more psychology and dietician.
I’ll let you guys know how I go when I get my review after my functional assessment.
