Just incase you don't know;
Monday 9th of May has been declared a 'Special non working day' due to it being election day here in the Philippines. You will find that everything including banks will be shut. Those of us who get payed every 4 weeks will be paid a day later than usual due to the 'Special non working day'.
Cheers

So does that mean like public holidays in Thailand? Everything is as per normal other than banks and government places closed?

Historians may find this of interest. (ePub Reader needed).
Gold Warriors: America's Secret Recovery of Yamashita's Gold by Sterling Seagrave, Peggy Seagrave
In 1945, US intelligence officers in Manila discovered that the Japanese had hidden large quantities of gold bullion and other looted treasure in the Philippines. President Truman decided to recover the gold but to keep its riches secret. These, combined with Japanese treasure recovered during the US occupation, and with recovered Nazi loot, would create a worldwide American political action fund to fight communism. This ‘Black Gold’ gave Washington virtually limitless, unaccountable funds, providing an asset base to reinforce the treasuries of America’s allies, to bribe political and military leaders, and to manipulate elections in foreign countries for more than fifty years.

Yeah I know; it's YouTube. I found it to be all quite plausible though. Your literary exposé made me think of it again.

Those on 4 weekly payment in the Philippines should expect a delay in their pensions being cleared. There's a Typhoon passing through which has forced most private & public offices to shut down in the affected area. Evacuation took place also. This local emergency plus the Australian public holiday last week on the 22nd could delay payment's by 2 days me thinks. Stay safe everyone!
Cheers

Yes, stay safe. Even we are getting the leftovers here in north Thailand. Another superstorm they say. And people in Australia will often say "They're used to them. While at the same time moaning about the weather on a slightly rainy day.
