Had anyone done this? If so through the BKK embassy or a consul-general? And how long did it take? They say at least 6 weeks.

Had anyone done this? If so through the BKK embassy or a consul-general? And how long did it take? They say at least 6 weeks. I'm in the process of renewing mine in January in Manila. Go online to the passport office site, set up an account, download the application and fill it in online. Next step is print it out. Then get in touch with the Embassy to make an appointment select the date that's suitable for you, that's the process that I followed, easy as ABC... They say at least 6 weeks so don't book anytime soon, unless your existing one has some validity left... Cheers Itsa

I did mine at the BKK embassy a few years back, I flew down for the day then they posted the new passport to me via registered mail. I'm sure it never took 6 weeks, maybe 2? Apparently can be done in Chiang Mai now... Australian passport applications & renewals can be lodged with the Honorary Consul, Chiang Mai – by appointment only. Please contact the Consulate (Monday – Thursday 9 am to 12 noon) on 091 857 6996 or by email – info@australianconsulatechiangmai.com – or – ausconcm@gmail.com – to book an appointment.
It takes 4 weeks to receive a new passport. ONLY a credit card (visa or mastercard) “authorisation form” is accepted for payment. No cash. or debit cards. Passport applications can also be lodged in person at the Embassy in Bangkok. See Embassy webpage for passport information and application requirements.
Emergency passports – these can only be applied for at the Embassy in Bangkok.

Got the passport back in 2 weeks and 3 days. Took it to immigration and with no hassles or $ 2 days later got visa and re-entry stamps swapped over from old to new. So overall 10 out of 10 to all concerned. Nomadic again soon I hope.

Cheers 🐻 On arrival back in Bangkok, I went straight to the embassy the same day. On arrival at security, a staff member held up a sign behind the lass security with a ph number and website saying I had to make an appointment. But while I'm writing this down she gets on the phone and the next thing I'm through security and being led to an office. Then a Thai girl comes out and within an hour I have fixed it and paid A$462.00. Will be sent registered EMS to my address but will take a minimum of 6 weeks. So all great stuff for me as was thinking I would have to wait weeks in Bangkok. But in less than 3 weeks it was back and after 30 minutes in my local immigration office a day later I'm told to pick it up 2 days later with the visa stamp transferred to it. Free and easy as. Did I get lucky? With the embassy no appointment I'd say yes. So possibly nomadic again apart from Oz in March for more medical stuff.
