'No more annoying MyGov inbox messages': New app promises to be easier to use

The federal government is launching a new MyGov app, promising it will be easier to use and won't send users bouncing between services.

Minister for Government Services Bill Shorten made the announcement this morning, saying the upgraded system has been years in the making.

"No more annoying MyGov Inbox messages which then send you somewhere else to go somewhere else and you're chasing your tail all day long," he said.

The federal government has launched its new MyGov app.

The mobile app will use the phone's security infrastructure rather than the government's own authentication, making it safer.

It will also include a digital wallet and eventually will be able to be used as a form of ID for companies or services that require multiple points of identification.

"This shouldn't be revolutionary news, but for government services in this country we have just taken a quantum leap forward," Shorten said.

"We're just going to save people time."

Its promising the app will be easier to use and won't bounce users between government services.

The new MyGov app links government services such as Medicare, the ATO, Centrelink and allows people to apply for things like disaster payments.

It is available to be downloaded from the Apple or Google Play stores now.

Digital coaching will be available for those who need help navigating the technology.

Once again I can't help being skeptical. I'm trying to figure out if it's old age or the drugs that are making me think this newest iteration of a Labor Government think we just can't see how pompous sanctimonious and self serving they are......

Bear I downloaded the new app as soon as you posted this thread. So I use it now instead of express plus. I seem to be finding more info and options on it compared to the old one. Wheather or not the options were available on the old one I'm not sure.

I have not been able to log on to my gov for 6 months, not working....

While I've not been locked out of the old app, they do run me through all of 'my secret questions' before giving me admittance. Cheers 🐻

I've been forced to have a 'Centrelink Express" app to have my digital HCC. When it first came out I opted for myGov because 'CE' was tracking people in real time. I believe it had something to do with keeping tabs on what people were reporting as to where they were psychically applying for work. Long long time ago now though.

Does the new MyGov app have digital wallets for both HCC & Medicare Cards J? Cheers 🐻

Yeah Bear it's got a digital wallet for HCC and Medicare Cards.

One More, give International Services a call, they should be able to reinstate your App.
