I'm not a frequent flyer but I did go on an overseas holiday once back a few years ago. 2015 it was. Centrelink offered for me to apply for portability even though I was only going for a few weeks but apparently more than what was allowed at the time. Anyway, long story short, I was granted this portability so can be paid for as long as I travel.
Fast forward to now. I haven't been overseas since that trip however I have a trip next month for a couple of weeks. Do I now need to advise Centrelink of my travel plans? Not looking for advice that it is a good idea or such. Does anyone here know if it is legally required or not?

No its not required that you tell centrelink I was granted unlimited portability back in 2013 and I have been on quite a few overseas trips and I haven't told them they are notified by Australian immigration when you scan your passport to go out of the country so no need to notify them

G'day thebruce welcome to the forum As anthonydsp has said, DSP UP/IP; not required to notify. Aged pension which comes with UP/IP, required to notify. Just another of those bizarre anomalies written into the legislation. Link for this # 2. Cheers 🐻

I guess it's so they can penalize the elderly that may easily forget to make a phone call.
