Just for interest sake.
Perhaps a warning.ππ»
I go to Chiang Mai every year for the last 11 years.
Brisbane return via Singapore.
No stop over.
Use a trusted travel agent, always. ( not keen on booking my self )
This year my fare was up $500. π₯΄π₯΄π₯΄
Too many bums on seats.
Not enough flights.

All of the above denise + a whole lot more. My priorities when coming back last May were fair price, fastest, no self transfers, and no long layovers. Pre COVID prices were achievable though served up everything I didn't want in various ways; like flying Brisbane to either Sydney or Melbourne, self transferring and having horrendous layovers before finally heading in the direction you needed to go. But then only to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore or Taipei for more of the same same. Those flights varied from 29 hours out to + 2 days. $ 495 - 600 one way.......Bargain; yeah nah!! These schedules were run by LCC's After procrastinating about three flights that met all of my needs, when two sold out and the other's price went up, I finally booked it. Out of Brisbane @ 11.35 pm Tuesday, into Bangkok @ 8.30 am Wednesday with a leisurely trip between terminals in Singapore. Full service, meal on both legs, fantastic trip, fantastic price too; $ 1,485 one way..... No bargain, but it saved me from what would've been a horrendously long trip otherwise. These schedules were run by FSC's. Cheers π»

Hi Bear, Hope this finds you well.
Your post makes me a feel a little better. Itβs not just me.
I also want an easy journey. No lay overs , no long waits . No terminal hussels . Out of Brisbane essential. Just long enough in Singapore airport to stretch the legs and get some tucker.
So I paid $1600 return .
Singapore Air .
Not too bad if you say it quick.
On the up side,, Last year I hit the golden pension age.
No more 28 days , then loose your pay packet.
So a couple of months this time.
Thatβs a big win.
Cheers

Just come back from the UK and while my price was good, the trip itself was looking.
I think next time will definitely be only 1 stopover and no LCC so baggage can be checked right through. That was the biggest downside of using the Oz LCC.
