Push to scrap passports and visas on trans-Tasman route between Australia and New Zealand
Anthony Albanese will discuss the proposals when he meets with New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins in Wellington this week.
Calls to scrap passports and current visa requirements for travel between Australia and New Zealand could prompt a major overhaul to trans-Tasman travel.

I'm not exactly sure what they're trying to achieve with this exercise other than smoother transit times between each country. Maybe they should look at the system that has been in use for some time between the UK and the R.O.I. I believe it's called the common travel area, whereby citizens of either country can come and go as they please, whilst retaining their benefits from the home country (Social Security etc) plus health care and so on. Some travelers opt for the identity card, which is like a credit/debit card with all their information on it and a photo, instead of the cumbersome passport. As with the UK and R.O.I, Australian, and NZ Peoples' histories are inextricably linked, so I can understand the move for closer cooperation in that regard. Cheers Itsa

Never forget this lot is just the other wing of the same bird and from the article, I'd say there making junket to feed to the favoured i.e. Tourism & Transport Forum (TTF) is calling for a taskforce to be established; and that's just for starters.
Anything to avoid their ultimate responsibilities to the common folk as outlined in our constitution. Cheers 🐻
