Has anyone ever being scammed by immigration.Let me explain, when we go to renew our visas in the Philippines you have to fill out a form eg all you personal details which they already have anyway.
Then you are asked if you want to use the express service lane, costing about an extra PH 500 plus I declined their generous invitation but was charged for it anyway plus other non existent services, they didn't try it in Duterte's day.

Cheers Itsa ๐ Itsa, I have never not been charged an express lane fee. They could probably rename it, like Australia's departure tax, and call it office fee or process fee or whatever.

I see Denis, then FYEO I usually pay PH2930 for a 2-month extension, this time around when I was at the cashier's section I asked how much, and to my disbelief, she showed me the amount on a calculator PH6170 I questioned it, and was told it was because my ACR card PH2870 was due on the 07/06/24 5 days before my next visa extension. Ok fair enough I guess, but a little bit of prior notice wouldn't have gone amiss. Lucky for me I had the cash on hand. Cheers Itsa

Cheers Itsa The closures for the covid got me Itsa... did the right thing keeping away and then went to Cebu City main office and it cost me 20k on top of normal visa extension and late fees... save you going to Manila... I smiled and paid.

Yeah, mate the bastards have done the same to me, stating that I needed to go to Manila and something about getting my Balikbayan visa sorted saying it wasn't clear and something needed to be done but one of them said that they could save me time and act on my behalf by allowing them to go to Manila instead, It Cost 10k. Sure it would have cost me more to bring my family, but I know and you also that they never went to Manila just into the back room of the city office and got the stamp magic eh...A'W Cheers Itsa The city office was notorious for that type of behavior before Dutertie's time !!! I got the Balikbayan visa at Mactan International Airport after arriving back from Australia

Immigration here is a branch of the Thai Police but I've never heard of them soliciting bribes over the counter, although "gifts" are welcome. There are agents who can organise visas for people who do not have the required cash in their bank, I've not used them but the fee seems to be about B20,000 of which some no doubt trickles down to the immigration people. For many years now my visa has only cost me a single B1,900 payment a year.
