FINALLY, bargain airfares for the Capital City!!
Just a few hours ago, Air Asia started the usual opening sale: $99 Sydney to Kuala Lumpur.
I just snapped up a bargain 30 minutes ago: $278 RETURN Sydney to Kuala Lumpur, including extras.
Better be quick, there are 5 million people in the Harbour City, and the tickets are selling like hotcakes.
I find it completely bizarre and incomprehensible why anyone would pay an extra $800 for trivial items, valued at perhaps $30, like an included meal and some rubbish on a videoscreen in front of the seat.
The meals on Air Asia are quite good Asian food, costing $5 to $10. Beer is the same price as in the shop in Australia and Malaysia, about $3 a can. I provide my own entertainments of course. The hostesses are mostly very pretty Chinese-Malaysian girls. And I have a secret Air Asia strategy, which I cannot disclose, for obtaining the best seat for comfort .

Good news chilla, I always use Air Asia for domestic flights in Asia but find they are not much cheaper internationally unless you book well ahead. When you're red flagged at Centrelink booking 6 months ahead is out of the question.

Good news chilla, I always use Air Asia for domestic flights in Asia but find they are not much cheaper internationally unless you book well ahead. When you're red flagged at Centrelink booking 6 months ahead is out of the question. Air Asia has new flights from Sydney at the moment. Have a look some might get a good bargain. Even if its a single flight Sydney to Bangkok Or reverse flight.

This story in the news today. Pay just $99 for flights to Asia AN airfare war is set to break out on flights to Asia following the announcement that budget carrier AirAsia X will begin flying from Sydney to Malaysia. The airline is offering introductory flights to Kuala Lumpur from April from $99 one way, on to Bali from $159 and Phuket in Thailand from $139. It follows Singapore Airlines' budget offshoot Scoot's announcement last month that it would begin flying from Sydney to Singapore in July. The new airlines will make it quicker and cheaper to get to Asia than ever before, with AirAsia X offering links to more than 80 destinations. AirAsia X already flies to KL from the Gold Coast, Melbourne and Perth, and the introduction of flights from Sydney had been highly anticipated. Last week, AirAsia X announced it would suspend flights to Europe and India this year in a bid to concentrate on the core markets of Australasia, China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea. AirAsia Group chief executive and AirAsia X director Tony Fernandes said the new route would also be good for Sydney tourism. Destination NSW, Tourism Australia and AirAsia X will be investing in a two-year marketing and promotion campaign. The route will be operated on the Airbus A330-300 aircraft with a configuration of 12 premium-fly flatbed seats and 365 economy seats. The lure of cheap flights between Asia and the east coast will draw some tourists away from South Australia. SA Tourism Commission destination development general manager Nick Jones said the commission was "in continuous talks" with a number of airlines, including AirAsia X. "Currently, we have no commitment from AirAsia X to add a Kuala Lumpur-Adelaide route to its flight schedule," he said. "We imagine that now that AirAsia X is flying the Kuala Lumpur-Sydney route, it will be looking in the next year or two to take up an opportunity to add another major Australian city to its Kuala Lumpur-Australia flight roster." AirAsia's affiliate Indonesia AirAsia also flies daily to Bali from Perth and four times a week from Darwin. AirAsia X has been named the world's best low-cost airline in the annual World Airline Survey by Skytrax. The sale fares are available until sold out for online bookings from today until January 22, for travel from April 2 until October 27. www.adelaidenow.com.au/travel/pay-just-99-for-flights-to-asia/story-e6freexc-1226246810446

The stage is set for a budget airline price war!
This year the budget airline Scoot will start flying a 400-seat plane every day from Sydney to Singapore.
We already have Jetstar to various Asian destinations including Phuket and Bangkok.
Tiger Airways flies Sydney to Singapore via Perth.
And now Air Asia has started.
Maybe even Cebu Pacific Air will run a route from Manila to Sydney.
The outcome will be a 4 or 5 budget airlines CATFIGHT.
In situations like this, Air Asia has been known to engage in EXTREME DISCOUNTING: just imagine Sydney to KL for $50 RETURN!
Cheaper than a taxi to the airport!

The mainstream guys will be watching as well, they're capable of dropping their fares when it suits them.

All the cheap airfare are gone. Hopefully some of the other carriers will drop prices. Its a pity being in Adelaide. It costs a arm and a leg to get to Melbourne or Sydney. As specials are never when i want to travel.

Air Asia are offering Phuket/Chiang Mai to Melbourne/Perth/Sydney/Gold Coast for around 3000B. Travelling between September 2012 and January next year. Be a nice opportunity to go to Australia for Christmas.

The fares I looked at all seemed to be out of Thailand, probably a different price for the other way.
