Here is a post put on the Lonely Planet Thorn Tree "Travellers with Disabilities" Forum: dspoverseas.proboards.com is a discussion board that is leading to the formation of a Disability Human Rights Advocacy Organization. The discussion board and the Disability Human Rights Advocacy Organization are very concerned about policies of the Australian Government which appear to be violations of the human rights of disabled people to travel overseas. In particular, the Australian Government may be violating The United Nations Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, signed by Australia on 30th of March 2007, and ratified by the Australian Parliament on 17th of July 2008, which reads in part: "Article 18 Liberty of movement and nationality 1. States Parties shall recognize the rights of persons with disabilities to liberty of movement, to freedom to choose their residence and to a nationality, on an equal basis with others.." If you are a disabled Australian citizen, and you are concerned about the policies of the Australian Government, which seek to restrict and deny the right of disabled humans to travel overseas, you are welcome to come and join in the discussions, and the growing movement to confront the Australian Government about these human rights violations.

All members are invited to place similar messages on appropriate forums. We pick up a few new members this way and, I suspect, a lot of interested lookers. It's a small courtesy to check with the admin it's ok to place another message board's link on their forum and I've had no problem so far. The widely travelled sceadugenga has quite a few links on Philippines and other expat sites.
