Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen, My name is Abigail. I am a 29 year old disabled Australian woman on the DSP. Actually, my disability only occurred less than a year ago, and now I am considering my options about what to do with my life. Most of the time I live in the Cairns area, Far North Queensland, but I now I am thinking about travelling overseas more, and possibly living overseas. Normally I am very shy. I have visited this site a few times, but I have been too shy to contribute or even ask a question. But sometimes I try to break out of my shell and try to be assertive and try to participate in life. However I feel that now is the time for all disabled people to stand up for their human rights. I can feel a groundswell, a mass popular uprising, amongst the 800,000 Disability Support Pensioners. It's time for Disability Support Pensioners to stand up and fight for their human rights and their human dignity. I would like to encourage every single one of the 800,000 DSPers to take an interest in the human rights of the disabled, and the political process that interprets the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities. There are 800,000 of us. The Australian Government cannot ignore us, because we are all voters. If a political party proposes policies that will hurt disabled people, they will have to deal with 800,000 angry DSP-voters at the ballot box. Thank You for letting me contribute to your website. Abigail

Abigail Hi Abigail, Welcome to the forum. I don't want to put a dampener on your enthusiasm but I would love to know how you "feel a groundswell, a mass popular uprising, amongst the 800,000 Disability Support Pensioners". I sure as hell cant feel it, and my personal view is that most (I said most, not all) don't give a flying F*** but care more about who is going to win dancing with the stars. Truth be told we have become a dumdned downed society of idiotic morons that dont give a damn past the next 5 minutes of our pathetic mundane live. Howeber Abigail you have put it out there, so please enlighten us what is this groundswell and popular uprising, because I sure as help cant see it. Again welcome to the board.
