A 31-year-old man has pleaded guilty in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court to stealing more than $18,000 from Centrelink over a two-year period. It is alleged Benjamin Wayne Lange of Port Pirie falsely reported his income to get illegitimate welfare payments. Yesterday, he pleaded guilty to four counts of obtaining financial advantage from another person from November 2008 until November 2010. In submissions, defence lawyer Lachlan MaCauliffe said at the time of offending, Lange was in a state of depression after his former partner had run away with their child and denied him access. He said Lange was using the fraudulent money to feed an illicit drug habit as a way of escaping the pain. He submitted a psychologist's report which found Lange to be psychologically fragile. The matter returns to court next week. goo.gl/kxCOA

If only we could see this:
A 45 year old`woman has pleaded guilty in the Hobart Magistrates Court on 30 counts of ruining Centrelink Customers' personal lives, causing untold stress to numerous people with Disabilities. Jane Doe, a case officer for Centrelink International Services, allegedly forced Disability Pension recipients who were overseas, to come back to Australia. She allegedly verbally bullied them in phone calls, threatening that if they stayed overseas their payments would be terminated. These people had spouses and children overseas and the separations caused by her actions caused untold grief and possibly suicides. John Smith, solicitor for Ms Doe, said that her husband had left her 3 years ago for a young Asian woman and she was projecting her anger onto Asian / Australian marriages. Investigations continue. Sources say that the current legislation is open to individual interpretation and individual officers are making up rules as they go.

Solicitor for the accused in a plea for mitigation produced a psychiatrist report stating that the accused was bullied and riducled as a child and often had her lunch money stolen by "older kids". What started out as pulling the wings of flies in the playground, soon developed into narcissistic sociopathic personality disorder which naturally leaned her towards applying for position at Centrelink. The solicitor described this as natural progression. Once described by Hank Jongen as a "golden child of the social welfare system", the accused had now be ostracized simply because she got caught out by being as first rate b***h

Sardonic laughter smiley soon developed into narcissistic sociopathic personality disorder which naturally leaned her towards applying for position at Centrelink. It's a bit like the chicken and the egg, isn't it ? Do they start out like this, or do they develop into people like this as a result of working in this kind of job ? Or a combination of both ?
