Anglicare says the number of people seeking emergency assistance has risen dramatically as some households are squeezed by higher utility prices. The welfare organisation turned away 325 people who contacted them seeking help in a single week during March. The agency said there had been a 35 per cent increase in demand in the past six months. Jenny Barrett of Anglicare said families in need of emergency assistance were being turned away due to lack of resources. "One of the biggest reasons we see that people are struggling financially is the rising cost of electricity and utilities bills, people just can't afford to pay them," she said. "There's a lot of people out there on the New Start allowance which is only $35 a day and that's just not enough for people to live on." au.news.yahoo.com/latest/a/-/latest/13476835/welfare-agency-sees-demand-soar/

Welcome to Hockey world. He would like to make it worse. The irony, we would like to spend more time in Asia cos we cant afford to live here and he would like to make Australia more like Asia, go figure.
