We are learning the hard way to be vigilant in all our dealings with C/L. Double check everything take nothing for granted even to the extent that you consider they should be knowing what they are doing.

Make sure you can check your bank account online and log into it every payday.

I contacted centre link International by Phone five times about my pension being cut off. The first guy was offhand and also gratuitously insulted my wife-- asked if the baby we are having is mine H e didn't record the call either but I complained repeatedly and he has now been traced I await an apology Meanwhile after getting hold of a "team leader" they agreed to reinstate my pension agreeing that the forms-PMOD- they sent to my wife were inappropriate but that they had no others. Their problem not mine!! I asked for section 24 to be applied and he agreed that my pension should not be cut. Then they cut it and took out all the "overpayments since February" They told me that section 24 cannot apply as i have money in the bank This totally contradicts the single pensioner assets test where i am well within bounds I rang today and demanded an immedaite appeal and they promised to ring me back today I will ring tomorrow to advise that i have sent my wife back to her p[arents and no longer live in a married relationship They seem totally unfamiliar with the term common sense

Chris, One thing you must do it get a copy of your file under the FOI, it takes 28 days after you apply but then you will be able to see any mistakes they C/L have made or where they have changed information. This will help you with any appeal.

This is a good reason to tape any phone calls you have with Centrelink.

I don't think the direct link works. Try this one, to the FOI page at Human Services. The link is in the section titled "How to Make an FOI" request. www.humanservices.gov.au/corporate/freedom-of-information/You should request your recrods, Chris. I always say, when their staff are really rude to you, they are hiding something, and trying to scare you away.

This is a good reason to tape any phone calls you have with Centrelink. Yes, they treat us like shit, then scream bloody murder when you even raise your voice back to them. Now, because of their lies, millions are to be spent on security to protect them from us. Who protects us from them? You posted a story once, where one of their staff had happily asked a lady how long it was going to be until she died, as he had to work out whether or not to book a JCA interview for her. My nurse friend said that a nurse would be fired immediately, if they spoke to a sick person like that. Centrelink staff should could learn some manners and integrity from their customers, if they stopped looking down on them for long enough .
