Support for PensionersThe Labor Government is delivering more support for more than 3.4 million Australian pensioners to help them make ends meet.
We know it can be tough to manage the bills when you’re on a fixed income. That’s why the Government is giving you a boost to your pension.
Over May and June, pensioners will receive an upfront, lump sum payment
This extra cash will help you make ends meet now and over the coming months. Single pensioners will get an upfront, tax-free payment of about $250, and pensioner couples will receive about $380 combined.
Next year, your regular payments will go up
From March 2013, your fortnightly or quarterly payments will receive a permanent boost. Overall, the pension will go up by $338 a year for singles, and $510 a year for couples combined. This is a permanent increase to your pension.
Your extra payments are automatic
You’ll just see the extra money in your usual bank account.
This is on top of the increases we’ve already delivered
In 2009, Labor delivered the single biggest pension increase in history. And because we know how important it is for the pension to keep up with living costs, we’re giving you another boost.
