Hi
I was wondering if anyone has been financially audited while on DSP? Does Centrelink pull random audits on DSPensioners? I have nothing to hide, but want to move my savings from one of my savings account to another, due to a higher interest rate, but I hate dealing with centrelink so would rather avoid doing this if it results in undue attention..
Does anyone have any experience with moving money within one's own accounts? Has Centrelink gotten suspicious?

Yes, about 2 years ago I was contacted by Centrelink about my "frequent overseas travel". They wanted to know how I could afford it. They themselves accessed my bank accounts and I was asked to provide a statutory declaration that I had no other source of income blah blag blah. At the time I was earning some (albeit it small income) which was all full declared to Centrelink. Everything was A-OK as far as they were concerned. As I have always said, declare or beware. As for moving money between bank accounts, its your money so you should be able to do as you please. If you want to open 100 bank accounts and put your money in all of them, that's your business. Just make sure you tell the Centrelink Goons you have opened a bank account.

I was audited by Centrelink's investigations branch, 'Business Integrity', when I applied for DSP and complained about corruption within that process. Not sure which bought about the audit - the application, or the complaints. I saw in some records I received late last year, that I had been audited again a year later. They even went through my medical records that time, and immigration (although I don't hold a valid passport?). I would be surprised if everyone 'living' overseas, has not already been audited, or will be during their reviews. If moving the money doesn't affect your payment, then do what you like. Let them work it out for themselves, or advise them next time you have to update your details.

If you get investigated they will run the rule over you, when I got my file it included something like 15 years of bank statements. I was all day shredding the the ####ing things. (Never seen so much red ink in all my life).
