Now that I have heard this I am going to buy my Air Asia tickets one leg at a time rather than booking a return each time. I am thinking that I will save up a little breathing room money while I'm os as well as here so I can stay an extra couple of weeks each time if I need to for cheap flight purposes.
Can someone tell me how long I can stay away before I actually get my pension cut off?? ie say I'm allowed 6 weeks away but I stay 8 before I come back to start the clock again. I am also going to find the absolute cheapest way to get back in and out of australia. I have some mates in the MUA so I'm even going to see about getting the odd berth on a ship from Indo to darwin.

13 weeks will be the date that your payments are cancelled. They won't be suspended and reinstated when you arrive back, you will have to reapply all over again.
Weeks 1-6 paid
Weeks 7-13 week not paid
So yes, 8 weeks would be good, and not pushing the envelope.

I always booked return because i knew I had to come back and it was cheaper that way. If I get indefinite portability, which I should with the OAP next year then I'll book each leg as i need it... yes, probably Air Asia or Jet Star.

I was looking for completely different things, but somehow I ended up on workwelfare's page and I found this: www.chronicillness.org.au/workwelfarewills/centrelink2-3.htmTraining or education Your work capacity assessment will also consider your ability to undertake and benefit from training or education. If they decide that you are capable of undertaking training that would enable you to work for more than 15 hours per week in 2 years time, you will not be eligible for a Disability Support Pension. So it could possibly mean that for ex. if you are paralysed on the leg but your hands works fine, and you done only physical work in your life, the assessor can send you to some office training. So no more DSP, It seams to me that there are many ways C/L can strip you from your DSP, it's only a matter who's the assessor, a compassionate person or Mr gestapo
