Well Hello there peoples!
First off I wish I had found this site BEFORE I went through 2 years of Hoop jumping, a LOT of useful information could have been had about interviews, what not/to say, dealing with the multiple JCA's etc, etc...
Oh well I got there in the end anyway and was just recently granted DSP on Mental Health grounds, Depression & associated disorders for 20+ years. I've worked and done various jobs/careers but it just never works out for many reasons. My only parent lives in Singapore and I was planning to go there for a while but it was only after I google'd for how long I could go that it said only 6 weeks. Well, I guess there's nothing i can do about it as from reading I doubt I'd be able to get IP since I'm pretty sure I haven't been assessed as "No future work capacity", I think I'm on 15 hrs or less or something like that. Has anyone in similar situation been granted IP at all?
Again, Hello & thanks. GK.

Welcome to the board ghostknife. You'll need some pretty good reports with mental health issues to get the UP but it's been done.

Well Hello there peoples! Oh well I got there in the end anyway and was just recently granted DSP on Mental Helath grounds, Depression & associated personality disorders for 20+ years. GK. Hi Ghostknife, and welcome to the board mate:) I was placed on the DSP in 2007 for an acquired brain injury and life long mental disorders, which were aggravated in my car accident in 2000! I sat the JCA last August and was granted "IP" mainly because of the brain injury and associative alcohol problems. So within 5 years they have reclassified me as an alcoholic with brain injuries, and failed to even rate my litany of mental issues at that time. If you need any advice in preparation for the JCA then message me mate, I am only too willing to give a few pointers:) Cheetal...

Nice avatar, we have two Groucho's on the site now, that's Bankers middle name... As you have probably read on the forum you have to get 20 points in the impairment tables in 1 disability only. 19 each in 2 is worth SFA. Get your forms done and ask your doctor if he knows about the impairment tables and understands the 20 points system when he does the medical form. May even be an idea to print off a copy and take them along. If you fail you immediately ask for a review when you get the news, they will appoint an Administrative Review Officer to go over the assessment. These guys are NOT impartial and will almost certainly uphold the decision. This can take a while, mine took 6 months. If the news is bad you prepare a case for the Social Security Appeals Tribunal.
