hi I'm new and can anyone tell me, if i get my pension and return to live in asia, how long can i remain before losing my pension, i'm confused about the regs and posts on here, most seem to be diability pensions. I am recently divorced with no money and have been told i will need to work for 2 years to get my oap. unless i can provide a good reason for govt support. it will be new start as im over 60 and have not worked for approx 6 years.
anyone know anything about this. my husband & i are both australian, me born and bred for 63 years.
it seems i must live in aust for 2 years before i can get the pension . have been away for a couple years, just returning for visits to kids grandkids etc a couple of times a year

Hello Mobilemama.
The most important thing is that you be a permanent resident when you apply for OAP. It does not matter if you were a past resident but you must be a permanent resident at the time of application and in Australia when the application is made.
If you are not a resident you will have to become one. That requires two years residency in Australia to show by fact that you are a resident. So, do not lose your residency. After you are granted OAP you can take it with you wherever you go as you have 35 years Australian Working Life Residency in Australia, that qualifies you for a full age pension that is exportable.
And, some good news for you, as you are divorced and female, you might well qualify for the Widow's Allowance which is the same as the New Start in payments terms. It also has only six weeks portability, but its better part is that you will not have to run around every two weeks looking for a job, but you will be exempted from that.
Please check my comments, as I am advising without certainty, and each case varies with the facts not with the merits.
And Good luck
