As long as its only used for its intended purpose with a warrant required, paedophiles and cyber crime,....fine . But i wonder if they will start requesting warrants to secure the browsing history of people suspected of Centerlink fraud and so forth . And does " Browsing history ", only mean the websites that you visit or can they see content posted by you on say Facebook or a board like this ?

this country is becoming so communistic. George Orwell revisited. I seen on the news if someone is arrested we have no right to remain silent. This will impact severely on the mentally impaired... big brother is clamping down even more. no wonder we want to live in asia. and the people here say how can you live in a 3rd world country? as far as I can see asia is far ahead of australia in many regards... only good thing here is free medical (well almost), and good education for our kids...

I am pretty sure they will be checking facebook mate and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if this site was being looked at.

I think they would need a reason to check people out, they would never have the resources to watch every PC/laptop in the country.

A couple of months ago I let a girlfriend use my smartphone to connect to Face book. She also gave me the password for her account. I was looking through her account one day and saw in the account setting page, there is provision to download your data. So I downloaded it. It contains all your messages from day one and contacts even deleted ones. Basically every bit of information you have both kept and deleted. I was horrified to see that all my contacts from my mobile phone were also stored in her Face book account. It happened when she used my phone. I can not delete this information from her Face book account. I think a lot of people should be worrying if Centre Link ever got Face book to give them this sort of information.

To me the key word in mobile phone is phone. The minute you start using it as a computer you accumulate this great mass of info that stays around forever. My phone makes phone calls and sends SMS messages.
Facebook is a social networking website, everything you post on it become public property. I say hi to a few rellies and friends on mine, I use the DSPoverseas account to spread the word.
Use the 'net to see if there are any ways of deleting the stuff Bernie or even closing her account. Good luck with that though.
