Hi to all, I am a new member but have been reading these forums
for a while now after hearing about the 13 to 6 week changes.
I mostly agree with what I read here & feel that we are being treated poorly and punished for getting ill or having accidents.
I had a stroke about 7 years ago, after about 3yrs on the newstart circle jerk, doing courses & attending numerous interviews, as hard as it was I realised I was disabled & should focus on my health.
I really don't want to live outside Australia & I'm very grateful for the financial assistance I am receiving & I regularly see a specialist and take a few medications everyday.
One of my few joys every year lately was going to spend a few months in SE Asia, nothing special just being able to afford dinner out & a new setting for my daily walks. If your not bringing home $1000 a week in Oz
you cant afford much.
I don't want to risk my DSP and get re assesed so I can come and go when I please. Although Im pretty sure I would reach 20 points in 1 section under the new assessments its not worth the risk and it seems unfair that a representative of a company with much to gain by you being knocked back for DSP gets to decide.
Why would the government care where we live ? if we are receiving DSP we should be free to stay O/S if that's what we want !
One thing I have noticed is that C/L thrives on misinformation, I have been told I need to call when I return from O/S and then told its not required just call if your payments stop ! Told to try and call 6 weeks before I go & then told I can call on the day I go !
There are no set guidelines and it seems to be at their discretion.
I have been cut off before because of one of their mistakes, missed a payment got a late fee, they dont care. I always call & get a receipt number.
Anyway thats my story
