Hi there, May I introduce myself? I am Catherine. I am a 32 year old Australian woman on the Disability Support Pension. My disability is classified as severe to extreme (1 hour JCA). It is a disability which has caused me enormous suffering, indescribable pain, harrowing torment and anguish, and I feel as if my body, mind and soul has been dragged through a trillion torturous hells. I live in the Gold Coast area. Although my disability prevents me from having any participation in the Australian workforce, I sometimes manage to do some sporadic voluntary work for charities, maybe just an hour or two here and there. My favourite charity is a charity that helps and assists refugees who have been granted asylum in Australia, and who have found a new home in the Gold Coast area. Doing this voluntary charity work has given me an opportunity to hear some of the life stories of these refugees. Some of them have described some horrifying experiences of oppression, abuse, imprisonment, and torture that they suffered at the hands of cruel and tyrannical governments overseas. Because of the enormous pain and suffering that I have experienced because of my disability, I am able to relate to their terrible sufferings, and provide some measure of understanding and empathy. I am glad that I have found this site, because many of the topics are of great interest to me. Nice to meet you

This forum is for discussion of DSP portability and residency issues. We allowed discussion of related topics in the past but due to constant abuse of the privilege it's no longer possible. Discussion of refugee issues is available in a multitude of other internet forums. Not here.

Welcome catherine. Although what Banjo says is true, please don't think he's being rude. If he seems cranky it's because one person (who has apparently not been taking their medication) has been posting a lot of silly or irrelevant posts here and Banjo has to log in often in order to delete them. Happy to have you here.

Welcome Catherine, enjoy the banter of "The Administrators". I would caution you though about "us": many of us living here in Australia have had "horrifying experiences of oppression, abuse, imprisonment" suffered at the hands of a tyrannical government. Some of us even are reverse boat people . . . we want to go and live where they come from but cannot. So you will have to think about that a bit.

Catherine is our old friend Siddhartha who had his opportunity to shape this forum from the beginning but decided it was more fun to mess with it after the lines had been drawn. Thread closed.
