Best economy airline seat ever?
IT'S one of the most frustrating parts of flying - the person in front of you reclines their seat while you're trying to eat your meal, encroaching on your space.
The issue infuriates passengers to the extent that some have come to blows, with several violent confrontations documented last year including one on a Swiss Airlines flight last September.
But a radical new airline seat design could solve the issue once and for all.
The AirGo seating concept was created by Malaysia-based engineering student Alireza Yaghoubi after he endured a series of "cramped" flights and submitted it to the James Dyson Award - a design award running in 18 countries. He won the award.
It offers an independent space for each row so a passenger's space won't be infringed upon when the person in front reclines their seat. Passengers would also have full control over their TV monitor and tray table even when the person in front reclines.
The back support is flexible and nylon mesh will reportedly prevent sweating. Passengers will be able to customise the seat to fit their posture.
They'll also be able to control their own footrests.
It also gives passengers their own overhead storage bin, so should put an end to battles over overhead locker space.
However, they do take up 16 per cent more space, which is bound to turn off most airlines.
Other media outlets have reported that it will bring economy passengers a similar level of luxury as those travelling in first class, but that looks doubtful - it looks quite awkward.
