Hi there to all inmates and escapees.
I hope mobbing is the correct term and I'm not sure if it can work but I was thinking. The reason politicians don't listen is because we are not a big enough problem to them.I know whenever I go and see mine that they forget I was there before I leave.
Would it help if we all contacted the same mp at once ? I am thinking that if a member here in Australia was going to see his/her local member at a certain time, they could let others know why and others could phone if possible or/and email at that time or in the hours before. Of course we should encourage friends and anyone else to join in.
I for one would dearly love to go and see my local MP and have all the people in his office discussing the influx of calls from pensioners or the same issues as me at the same time. Filming it might be interesting as well.
I think we would need some sort of strategy , maybe start with Macklin and work back or viceversa.
Even if a few of us made calls before somebody visited their Mp ,it might add weight to that persons complaint.
At least we might find out if squeaky wheels really do get oiled.
Any thoughts?
or should I maybe change drugs?

I've spent several months, involving three or four meetings, talking to my MP. If his picture wasn't on the wall I still wouldn't know what he looked like. Nice polite assistant though.
I did write to Senator Carr last year asking if he would receive a delegation in his local office and if so what the procedure was but received no reply at all.
I think that the UP was brought about by the direct action of this forum. We made a number of individual Senate submissions and quite a few members of this board wrote regularly to our local MPs and the ministers involved.
I suspect that many of them now believe they have given us a fair deal, we have unlimited portability... if we pass an assessment.
What we need to work on now is to lower the bar for the criteria, which to be honest, we can't really do until we have more results, or the lack of.
Next month I intended to poll members to determine how many have applied and with what result but think it is still too early.
We need to have figures to show that the assessment is unfair, and that people who blind Freddie can see have no future work capacity, let along the next five years have missed out.
I'm prepared to listen to any ideas you may have scallywag, as you know I have in the past, but we need to have a full picture of what our demands are going to be.

Mobbing ya rekon Scallywag: I'm flat out seeing most here try to do themselves a favour let alone doing something positive for the rest of the disabled like them, and when all the jurisprudence and conjecture is cited; it still amounts to exactly the same questions asked time and time again? Answered by peoples that are truly capable and yet time deficient; but never answered by those that are not intestinally bestowed enough to do it for themselves! Stay on the same drugs and say maybe you will visit your MP; but in the end Scallywag, I think most everyone here besides B&B are wishing, hoping and praying that somebody else changes constitutional law besides themselves! I can laugh old mate; just for the simple fact that I got off my own arse and done something for myself! Its not about numbers as you suggest sir; its about having a go for yourself and the sooner every poor bastard who subscribes realises that, then the sooner the government will take more notice than they currently do now.. I have been on this site now for 9 mths and along with and because of B&B, it showed me how to besiege the system and if not manipulate it to my own accord.. So my question is this and it's very simple; what the f*"k else do people want or need? When does the time start for they themselves to begin, or start to seek out their MP or whomever; because I honestly know and believe that all the questions have already been answered here many times! I cant read and understand more than one sentence at any given time; therefore I cant understand legislature and it's intention, so I cant reply nor do I wish to ever try! But; if I read or write one sentence at a time I comprehend, so why cant the rest of those here? I apologise if I have come across too strongly here Scallywag and maybe it's time for me to go; but could some bastard try to offer some sort of resolution and stop implying that it is all in someone else's hands! Because that's utter nonsense and complete bullshit as far as I'm concerned Team; so I wish you all the best in your endeavours with your letters to the local MP or the Editor:)) Its time to do what God expects of you people, and that's take care of yourself first; after all, this site gives you all the tools necessary so use them people! Good Luck:))

hmmm mobbing SOUNDS GOOD but it wont happen,i have thought along those lines for years, where are all the protests in the main streets every week demanding work from people on newstart, there is none, people should be marching ,protesting 4 work in the streets ,but no it dont happen, and it wont, its a good idea, but it just wont happen ,so the goverments just keep doing nothing about jobs ,EXEPT let them be sent offsure, they think its ok to send jobs off sure but not people on dsp.

They certainly take notice of numbers, I'm not denying it, but we need to be talking thousands... tens of thousands before they sit up.

Exactly Banj; but it starts with each and every individual here and throughout our beautiful country, to do something proactive for themselves, and to take the sound advice you and Banker offer! Be safe big fella and I hope the Triangle treats you kindly, if your still away that is? Cheers mate... Cheetal:))

I'm not so sure we need big numbers to mob, just enough to get the message across. Even a few people ringing the mp's office inquiring about the same issue as the person visiting in the hours before they visited ,it would spook them . Then if those that rang forgot to hang up the phone after the call,,,, it might cause only a minor inconvenience but if it happened enough they would get the point. It doesn't take a very big pebble in your shoe before you have to do something about it. I think it would be a bit of fun and if it worked even a bit ,it would be worth stepping it up and with the help of few more it could become a major problem for anyone targeted. It would also give confidence to the person visiting.
I am prepared to make a call, if anyone is going to drop in on their local MP. Just post a time here with just enough info to be relevant and I will ring them and make inquiry's along the same lines.I know that sometimes with the medication I'm on , I forget to hang up,,,and I think others could have the same problem. If we kept it up the media would have a ball. If it was successful it would not be long before others stole the idea ,so it's effective life for us would be short.
10 people,3 calls each over an hour should get them thinking and 30 emails over a few hours would help set the scene.
on the other hand we could all just have a cup of tea.
