Hi everyone. I don't know if anyone has posted this paperwork before... Anyway for all of you who are considering applying for UP it's well worth a look. It's very interesting how Centrelink apply the Tables for the Assessment of Work-related Impairment for Disability Support Pension. I received this paperwork today (22 March 2013) so it took Centrelink 10 days to get it to me! Doesn't leave me much time to visit my doctor, but anyway I will see what happens Brett Attachments:

Hello, everybody! My name is John. Just typed in google and discovered this wonderful site. I am 59 yrs old and has been on DSP since 2011. I have serious mental issues. I am on 7 different drugs and also a long trem alcoholic. I am seriously thinking to move to Asia on DSP indefinetly, as I have a girlfriend and child in the Philippines. Is there someone who has been successful applying on this indef port assessment out there, who can at least give me some ideas about the review process? I m worried that if i failed i will be back on newstart, which will really push me over the cliff due to my condition. Anyone pls reply? thanks

Welcome to the board JP.
Sure we have a few people here who have cracked it, the application is fairly straight forward, they send out the forms and you fill them in and get the doctors report done then post them away.
The problem, and most certainly an unfair one, is that you need 20 points from the impairment tables in one disability.
You need to talk to your quack about it, hopefully he knows about the impairment tables or refers you to a decent specialist. Cheetal has managed it with mental disabilities so he'll have a talk to you as well.

hi Almafudd,
I have just dowloaded the ind port forms you posted. Thanks.
I also noticed that the "YOU" & DOCTOR" forms are to be mailed to Canberra, But the Work Capacity are to be mailed to Hobart, Tas. I do believe that if you take the completed forms into you loccal Clink office, they shoul be able to scanned the info onto the system, like when i applied for mine DSP in 2011. If 1 of those 2 forms are lost in transit, wth the diff address, you have to go round the spinning wheel again. Hey, good luck! Pls , if you may share the int process wth all of us. Cheers bud!

No, he's just one of the guys on the forum, he's offline at the moment but he'll be along later and have a word with you. We use the Personal Message system a lot here, saves messing about with email. You'll soon work it out, if Banker could anyone can. (He's one of the guys as well).

Hi John: I was granted"IP" October 16th last year and if it was not for this site and Banjo-Bankers advice, I would not have it now! I did not even know what it was or anything about applying for it until July last year , when I stumbled across this site and joined it. So, yes John, you have truly found a great and remarkable site to address your issues and questions, and it sounds like we have a very similar prognosis also. I have been sidelined for mental disorders, acquired brain injuries and alcohol dependence also, and only after sitting for the JCA and asking for my file did I see that they now term me as a category one alcoholic with brain injuries; not even relating my life long mental disorders as the root cause of my dependence? But you have found us here now and I will send you a few of my earlier posts to look over and help guide you with your assault on the system, ok John! I also have a woman in the Philippines and that's why I went through all the "IP" procedural crap to be with her permanently over there! So we have a lot in common and I will stay in touch, or you can always IM me in return, ok mate? Good Luck Brother John:)) Cheetal...

to meta,,have a look at the tables and see how you fit in with the 20 points in the relevant areas?

thanks anotherdsp, indeed i have a copy of the tables and have been thinking through how to approach it from within the application process, i.e how to skew toward 20 points in only one disability etc. Whilst i qualified for the DSP under the more recent tables, and my GP & specialists are mostly 'onside', I'm taking my time & doing all the research & prep before applying.

to meta, yep i think it pays to have your medical reports up to date an by the right doctors? when you look at the tables go to the 20 point questions and if under those questions you feel you can answer yes to what the criteria is for 20 points that is a good start..an then on the form that report your problems write down the difficulty of performing such duties? i dont think there are trick questions for me basically all questions were based on the tables? but i have mayb different problems to you mainly bone problems. well i hope this helps an it also makes sense to you?? i think i was lucky as in my interveiw the person was very nice an respectful towards me and understood my problems. also i did not apply untill i had all medical problems sorted an documented!!!!

thanks fro the advice anothersdp, I'm currently strengthening my case, & getting more solid documentation from specialists as to specific nature of my 'capacity' and impairment, which i think i'll continue to do for a couple months, so everything is sorted, and everyone on board, before i do the application rush. For everyone's info: This is the same process/method i used for applying for the DSP... i.e. I had discussed with all my doctors, specialists, & psych's re their willingness to 'sign off' on the pension forms before i applied, & booked appointments with them before applying too, so as to guarantee being able to se them in the short fortnight you get from CL to return all forms. I scanned & printed multiple copies of the forms so as to have as many doctors providing reports as possible (as they only give you room for 1 or 2 from memory). Glad you had a good experience with it too anothersdp! Similarly, my DSP interviewer/assessor was very nice & understanding (indeed i insisted on getting the same one that i'd seen earlier in the process, having had such a positive experience with her, until they specifically booked her!- **which i really recommend trying if anyone's in that position**), & the interview was pretty minimal given the thick folder of documentation i slung at them, & the fact she'd seen me before. I also front-loaded the interview work by writing up a point-form 'essay' describing my day-to-day symptoms, impairment etc, so most of the work was done in that the assessor had read that and could refer to that & just clarify things if i was having a rough day sickness/cognitive fog-wise and wasn't nailing the interview.
