Hello all. I wonder if anyone has or is in the same boat as me. I have been on DSP pre 2003, i am 55 now. I travel o/s every 13 weeks, and have done so for 3 years. I also am on S8 Meds. (Norspan Patches 3 per week. 20mcg) (Currently going for UP) Everytime I go and get my REG24 prescriptions for this particular S8, the government pharmicist severely questions my Dr re Qty. This week my dr(FracGp) told me he is sick of it. My heart sank. I have been on this medication, same qty for over 6 years now, but its getting to the point now that my dr is saying he is sick of doing this as he is questioned everytime. (this doasge was via pain clinic and specialist) (my condition only gets worse) I asked my Dr, "what am i to do" he said " I dont kno" So my question is, if anyone can help me AT ALL , is: Is someone able to provide me with a link, or information regarding my little problem? How can pharmicists question dr's authority? Its clear medicare has history of my comings and goings. Its clear on their history i have had the same medication for years. We all know the governments have their little demigods, and to its relatively clear, that one resides in this dept. I can also understand my dr's point of veiw also, but try and finding another to WANT to care, IS EXTREMELY HARD. (so much for the oath...) So any help would be greatly appreciated. Nikita

First I've heard of this, I have had them ask me about too much Feldene but you can get genuine problems taking too much but only on quantity, not on what is being supplied. (I was going away and asked for three repeats).
What do you call a govt pharmacist? Do you use a public hospital pharmacy? Most of the private ones don't give a shit, more money for them.

As i go away, (or used to every 3 months) i would go to my doctor and get reg 24 script for my patches, however this qty has to be authorised by Medicare. The script is sent in to medicare, where they authorise, then send it on to me. Note: when a Dr is prescribing normal qty's, as you know they make a phone call to PBS and get a authorisation number. this is used for restricted medications. The people who answer the phone at PBS are Pharmicists. And once i get the script, i then go to my private pharmacy.

What my enquiry was about is these damn pharmicists. Even though a specialist/Professor has prescribed this medication, they deem it upon themselves to question the dr. on this occassion, my dr was TOLD that the usual prescribing is 2 patches per week, not 3. this as he said happens all the time, they ring him before they authorise. bear in mind that i have been on this strength for over 6 years now, so there is no need to bully the dr. and this is how he felt. !!

It seems everybody are questioning our doctors integrity values and decisions, especially C/L; seeming they over-ride them so frequently? When I travel my GP normally gives me at least six months worth of my drug, and the pharmacy normally adhere to his requests. Hope it all works out for you Nikita:)) Cheetal...

a chemist shouldn't question a doctor..their not qualified..but think they are..but then again doctors get money from drug companies...and u should travel with a doctors signature on the drugs list u have.. u could go to jail in some parts even for prescript drugs..so u been told..do some homework.
