I've received an email from a minister's office tonight answering my query on the number of trips a year that would place residency in jeopardy.
The advice is "ask Centrelink, they treat every case differently".
I've made my dissatisfaction with this answer quite clear.

Unbelievable Boss; palm it off to the too hard basket and somebody else's problem (SEP:) obviously. It makes you honestly wonder what they actually do for their exorbitant wage packets, doesn't it? One would think, that a simple phone call from any ministers office would have any question answered?

I don't see how they can legally restrict how many trips a year you can take. Logically, as long as you were here just over 6 months of the year they wouldn't have a case against you, you would think, but then again logic isn't synonymous with governments now is it? I know a lot of us would want to stay away longer knowing that we are within our rights and it is frustrating not being able to be given a definite answer from a minister. It just goes to show what a shambles the entire process is.

It's pure and simple discrimination, they want to pick and choose who they victimise.
I've said all along that some people are bulletproof and genuine rules in black and white would jeopardise that.
