Here is my situation. I was on dsp since 1990 (chronic fatigue, depression, migraines), but got cut off when I started to live overseas (2006—my fault). I returned to oz in March and applied for the dsp again. CL were good about the residency, and put me onto newstart straight away, all good so far. But today I was told that my dsp application was rejected.
I don't have the letter yet, but I was told that they accept that my condition has stabilised and that I meet the medical, but the reason I was rejected was that I did not have any specialist reports. When I first got sick I got a dozen specialist reports on my condition, but then in a fit of anger and depression I destroyed them all. I spoke to my gp earlier today, and he had copies of two old specialist reports.
My question is, if I appeal and add these two reports to my appeal, would this make a difference? Or is there something else you could suggest?
Any help appreciated, Ian

Muso, you will need fairly recent specialist reports. Is anything stopping you seeing a specialist again?

No. Not really, apart from my dislike of drs. So go the full route, see a dozen specialists, who will tell me the same thing and then appeal within 13 weeks?

I think you only need one specialist report.

Yeah, I would go back and get a new report, it would be a good idea if your condition has deteriorated, which is likely in 23 years.

I'd send the old reports. Seriously what do you have to lose??? They'll tell you that you'll need more recent ones, but you gain some time and you can go and get fresh spec. reports.
